    Quote
The Holy See has yet to reveal what the miracle was or where and when it took place but Vatican sources said it would “amaze the world”.  It concerns the “extraordinary healing” of a Costa Rican woman who was cured of a severe brain injury after her family began praying to the memory of the late Polish pope, according to reports in the Italian media.

Details of the miracle are likely to be announced at the end of this month or at the beginning of July, a Vatican insider told The Daily Telegraph.
John Paul II was beatified — the first step towards sainthood — in a lavish outdoor ceremony in St Peter’s Square in May 2011.

The second miracle — which is required in order for him to be given full sainthood — reportedly occurred on the very day of his beatification.
It has reportedly been recognised by theologians from the Vatican’s Congregation for the Causes of Saints, which is in charge of examining the “dossiers” of candidates for sainthoods.

It now has to be signed off by a commission of cardinals and bishops, which is expected to happen within the next few weeks.
John Paul’s first attributed miracle was the apparent healing of a French nun, Sister Marie Simon-Pierre.

Her recovery from Parkinson’s disease after praying for the late pope’s “intercession” had no medical explanation, the Catholic Church maintains.
The Polish pontiff is likely to be formally made a saint in the autumn — either on Oct 20 or Nov 24.

The canonisation ceremony is likely to be attended by hundreds of thousands of Catholic faithful and will be presided over by Pope Francis, who was elected in March.

“The canonisation of Karol Wojtyla will be the crowning glory of the recent history of Catholicism, linking the last three pontificates,” Saverio Gaeta, who wrote a biography of John Paul II, told La Stampa newspaper.

  • I'm going to requote that last paragraph:

  • What are the odds Msgr. Fellay will show up in Rome for JPII's neo-Canonization ?

  • When this happens, it should end all doubt that this sect is not the Catholic Church.  The Catholic Church does not canonize public heretics.

  • All those demonic "blessings", must have done him in?

Pope welcomes 160 rabbis, Jan 2005. At the climax of the meeting, three rabbis carried out a religious ritual to “bless” the Pontiff.

The pope went into the hospital two weeks after that and never recovered.

TIA suspects it wasn't a blessing, but a curse in revenge for the Ratisbonne conversion 163 years prior.

    Here's the story:

I hope not Hell!  As bad as he was, I hope he converted prior to his death.  He harmed billions of souls, if he is in Hell, the thought is horrifying.

  • Sigh.

I'm conflicted on the subject.  Pope John Paul II did some good things in my opinion.  The most notable, in my opinion, was the installation of some good Cardinals and promotion of more conservative clergy.  He basically greased the skids for Pope Benedict XVI--who I think that is the greatest pope of my lifetime thus far.

But of course, there are the different episodes and fiascos that he seemed to bring on himself.   :stare:    I mean, come on.

So...there's people out there claiming there's miracles attributed to him.  How am I to know if those reports are lies or truths?  I dunno.  Maybe they were real.

I'll err on believing it as legit.  When I die, if I find out it was not legit, I'll then know for sure.   :tinfoil:  I'm the same way with the age of the Earth and believing in the literal Creation.  For now, I buy the Bible's stories.  If I find out God did it a little different, then I'll say to myself on that day on the other side of existence... "Oh."

I don't think he was as bad as many people have pointed him out to be precisely from more traditional Catholics. He was big in my conversion towards Catholicism and most specifically because my family was really close to him.

It is through that some of his actions have been controversial and definetly not the best of them. Kissing the Koran, massive ecuмenicalism, Altar girls, and more.

He however also did good actions, some which I am pretty sure we would not even be close to doing. These include forgiving the man who shot him, whom happened to convert to the Catholic faith because of this, and loosening some unwanted tensions with other faiths.

I think that John Salza perhaps put it best in his online article No criticism of John Paul II?

John Salza states that we should not forget to differentiate the difference between the pope's objective actions and his subjective intentions. Many people think they know everything to criticize the pope as somehow they know his mind, which is obviously not true.

I hope he did convert as I hope everyone converts. Anyway, we'll find out where he is when we die too.

I think the worst thing he did was pretending people don't need to convert in the name of ecuмenism, thus damning all those souls who believed him.

  • This is the way I feel about JPII. No way he should be
    canonized.
If he is, I will never accept it that he is a Saint in
    Heaven.

Arturo, public transgression of the First Commandment on the part of a man who claims to guide, protect and represent a billion Catholics is not just 'controversial.'

His intentions are irrelevant when the act(s) in question are mortally sinful (and heretical) by nature.

I am happy to give anyone the benefit of the doubt, especially when that person is an authority.  But at a certain point, something has to give.  If it was just an off the cuff comment (or even a few) then I'd happily concede that he (or any of the other conciliar pontiffs) know what they're doing, and that the misunderstanding is on my own.  Erecting a Buddha statue in the house of God, accepting blessings from false ministers, invoking a holy and righteous saint to defend a blasphemous religion, praying that the Jєωs continue in their damnable practices, over and over and over again (and of course, that's just a few bullet points on a long list) make the case pretty solid.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

  • And now, I ask what's been asked before.

Is "sainting" someone an infallible act?
