There is a somewhat recent St. Augustine movie out there.
There is a scene where he first meets St. Ambrose, and the Empress introduces them both.
St. Augustine: I've heard much about you.
St. Ambrose: And I of you. They've told me you're a follower of Mani.
St. Augustine: That's right.
St. Ambrose: Well, we have here a Manichean, two Arians, a traditional Pagan, and a follower of Mithra: I wonder where the truth is?
St. Augustine: Or if man can find it.
St. Ambrose: No Augustine, no; man does not find the truth, he must allow the truth to find him!
The part in question of course is the last sentence, in red. Doesn't it sound kinda modernist? Man not being able to find truth? Truth needing to find him?
The scene starts at 1:26:43, it's in Spanish.
