I guess by the 28th, all of us become Sedevacantists. Whether we like to, or not.  :incense:

You're new here, so you might not be aware of the rules.  All discussion concerning... :scared2: ...sedevacantism must be confined to the "Crisis" sub-forum.

  • I thought our best bet would be Cardinal Scola Archbishop of Venice, who people say is a protege of Siri but then i read a comment on an Italian website which said...

    By Francesco B
    http://blog.messainlatino.it/2011/06/se-scola-va-milano-chi-venezia.html?showComment=1307815566000#c1925848654965459384
I do not know who put around the bale that Scola is a prelate linked to tradition, a new Siri! It 'a mistake, a colossal humbug! Scola is a man of the Council, in all respects. I've never heard of dogma and doctrinal rigor in his homilies, his speeches are imbued with social and political issues, without any reference to supernatural realities. It is also not particularly fond of Catholic devotional forms such as processions, novenas, rosaries and pilgrimages. He never celebrated Mass in the extraordinary form and has no intention of doing so. It has only been a celebration in the ancient rite just to say "look, I'm here too, now the Pope will be pleased with me! A way to get publicity and to show tolerance towards all. For him, the tradition is only one of many charisms of the Church, and that's that.

  • If he resigns, does it means the end of the world?

I don't have a good feeling about this....not sure why.

Perhaps the upside is that if an avowed, hardcore modernist like Mueller is elected it will make my decision to finally embrace sedevacantism a lot easier.

There is no reason to have a good feeling about this. Who here expects the modernists to elect a new pope who is not himself modernist?

I agree with Stubborn.  I find this very disconcerting.  When is the last time a Pope resigned?  Maybe he is too conservative (relative to the standards of the "hierarchy") to allow some kind of new modernism in and is being forced out.  Idk--but I'm not comfortable with this.  The upside is we get who?  Whoever the upside is, I say there's a better chance of icicles in hell than his election out of the upcoming conclave.

  • The Prophecy of Popes jumps to the last Pope after BXVI. But why? Does this mean Doomsday?

  • According to the news

The last pope to resign was Pope Gregory XII, who stepped down in 1415 in a deal to end the Great Western Schism among competing papal claimants.
"But Peter and the apostles answering, said: We ought to obey God, rather than men." - Acts 5:29

The Highest Principle in the Church: "We are first of all under obedience to God, and only then under obedience to man" - Fr. Hesse

On the other hand, everyone after the 28th will agree that the Seat of Peter is indeed vacant.

Once the conclave is over, and the Habemus Papam declared, then the disagreement resumes.

  • In my opinion His Eminence Raymond Cardinal  Burke would be a good choice for a Successor to Pope Benedict XVI. He is generally orthodox in thought and traditional in practice. In many ways, a friend of Tradition.

At any rate, I think Catholics should pray hard that God's perfect will be done in this matter for the next one and a half months or so before the election would happen, most of this Lent would be worth offering up in prayer and penance for that intention, that Our Lady may intervene by her powerful intercession, and the good God may turn from His most just anger toward a world that does not cease to offend Him and choose to give to His Church a shepherd after His own heart who will most zealously work toward the restoration of all things in Christ, because the next decade or so of the Church's direction on earth may well depend on it. At least, that's what I'm going to do.

May God bless the Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI in all he is led to do the remainder of his days here on earth and grant him eternal rest.
"Never will anyone who says his Rosary every day become a formal heretic ... This is a statement I would sign in my blood." St. Montfort, Secret of the Rosary. I support the FSSP, the SSPX and other priests who work for the restoration of doctrinal orthodoxy and liturgical orthopraxis in the Church. I accept Vatican II if interpreted in the light of Tradition and canonisations as an infallible declaration that a person is in Heaven. Sedevacantism is schismatic and Ecclesiavacantism is heretical.

  • Interesting facts about the favored Cardinal who many speculate will become the next Pope.

    Peter Cardinal Turkson  aged 63

born to a Methodist mother and a Catholic father in 1948.

Ordained a priest July 20, 1975 in the Bogus Ordo

He holds a BA in Theology and holds a Doctorate in Sacred Scripture.

    Consecrated a Bishop March 27, 1993.

He was one of the Cardinals in the last Conclave who selected Pope B16.

He is President of the Pontifical Council of Justice and Peace, a position he has held since 2009.

He is a member of several other Papal Councils, including the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.

He recently called for global public authority and a central world bank in a docuмent regarding the banking industry.

He also played a major role in the organization of Assisi III.

So, if he is chosen, what will be different than now?

  • (Apparently, based on the "Thumbs Down", there's someone out there with absolutely NO sense of humor! :jester:)

On a more serious note, CathMomof7, I don't foresee that there will be any changes, at least for the better, regardless of whom is elected.  The Conciliar church will continue its downward spiral into apostasy.

There is absolutely no way an American will be elected as this would be politically impossible and make most of the world believe that the Vatican was the tool of the United States and reduce the Vatican's credibility in secular matters to nill.  It's credibility in moral and doctrinal matters is already nil.

Speculation is probably pretty useless right now.  We'll know the direction of the new, new, new, new, new, new Church when he announces his name.  Will it be:

    John Paul 3:  More revolution.

Benedict 17:  Continue to look conservative and lure the SSPX.

    John 24:  Vatican Council III.

Or is there some other name that will radically change course?

  • In relation to my previous post about the error of calling Pope Benedict XVI "the defender of orthodoxy", I apologize for I was wrong. He was a defender of Orthodoxy!

  • AS of Feb. 28 the seat will be vacant....

No matter what.  It is still a sad day today.

Today is Our Lady of Lourdes...

We can end up with some one worse like Cardinal Dolan.

All we can do is pray to God and our Blessed Mother.
May God bless you and keep you
