  • I'm planning on going to a Red Sox game in August and I want to change my really expensive far away seat into a free seat right on field level. Would this be a sin in God's Eyes?

Just thinking about doing that is a mortal sin.  I would consult a Traditional Priest right away....

But make sure your confessor is also a Red Sox fan or else your confession might not be valid....

  • Yes, if you pretend to be disabled and go in a wheelchair.

Haven't you heard, ggreg?   The NSA checks docuмentation and asks for
your SSN to double check the database to see if you're really a disabled
person, and if you're caught "faking it," you are hauled off to a forced labor
camp post-haste, to await a trial that might never arrive.

  • Seat hopping at a sporting event is the kind of sin that would separate someone from the Church.   :incense:

Gobosox91, you're treading on dangerous ground with this post.

  • I asked my priest, and he said it would depend on whether it was Fenway Park or Yankee Stadium.

Certainly, seat hopping at a sporting event would 'separate' one from the
section of seats reserved for the Church Parish Ball Night Club.   :jester:

That's the spirit, MiserereMeiDeus!  I've known "devout" Red Sox and
Yankee fans who were priests, and I'm sure they would all have "a word
or two" to offer on this topic.  But I'd really be interested to know, what
would they assign for your penance if you were to confess this 'sin'?         :confused1:

But I have to admit, the "tension" between Angels fans and Dodger fans
is not of the same degree, especially among the clergy, so it is really
"proper" that the topic focuses on "Fenway vs. Yankee" stadium infractions.

Some friends of mine are Irish from Brooklyn - imagine the loyalty strain
on such ones, who would likely be drawn to Boston for nothing less than
the ethnic cultural aspect alone.  Their loyalty to Fenway Park stretches
across the country, since they live in Simi Valley (CA), just as their loyalty
St. Patrick stretches across the Atlantic Ocean.

Did anyone here make it to any World Series games?

    (Speaking of the Red Sox!)

I highly doubt there were any empty seats at field level.
Maybe several arguments over who gets to sit there, though!

Pretending that you are disabled and going in a wheelchair would probably be grave matter for you and all who help you in this fraud.
