  • Here's a thread that explains the problem with the Montessori method. I don't really want to discuss it further and take up time on the introduction thread. So maybe a new thread could be started if you have comments about it? Thanks.

Interesting. TY.  My practice of Montessori is by using the educational materials nothing more.  I appreciate the link!

Women Only is a good option for those topics. It should be next-to-last in the Homepage list, above Members Only. You don't have the female glyph visible by your username at left, so maybe that subforum is not accessible for you. Probably you have to indicate gender when you register, so maybe send a message to Matthew about it.

I don't see that option in the account or profile settings.

Yes, thus it makes sense to check with Matthew since it might not be something that you can adjust on your own after the account is active. For example, if you look at the left side of the screen here (in the Topic view, not in the combined Recent Posts view), the user info for others will show Gender.

That's a good idea. She can send Matthew a message by clicking on the 'Contact Us' option at the top of the page after logging in. It's possible that new members might not have access to the male or female subforums right away.

  • I am fifty years old and converted from the Novus Ordo to Traditionalism in 1990.  For me it was an easy transition,  as I remembered third grade and the 500lb., guitar playing priest, Fr. Rick.  I am sure he meant well, but he loved food too much and was caught up in the liberalism of the age.  As the story goes, he was sent to weight camp and packed his suitcase full of Twinkies and other goodies.  He died of a heart attack (imagine that!). He may or may not have been a priest, as he was ordained circa 1970.

As for the Latin Mass, I knew, even as a young boy, that there was something innately wrong with the New Mass.  My parents met at St. Joseph's Catholic Orphanage in the 1950's, and my mother would recount stories of when she was a young girl, the orphans would have every day the Latin Mass, Benediction, and the rosary.  My mother was confirmed by Bishop Sheen.  There were, at the time, fifty nuns and five priests residing at the orphanage.  Today the orphanage is a non-orphanage; it is a glorified daycare center with no nuns, no priests, and no orphans to speak of.  What we have lost!

In '94 I entered St Thomas Aquinas Seminary in Winona, MN, and stayed there until '97. After seminary I continued to pursue philosophy with the goal of teaching.  Taking the pay-as-you-go method, I finished my B.A. in Philosophy at the University of Louisville, and then completed my online M.A., Philosophy in 2008.  My M.A. work was done through Holy Apostles College and Seminary, which, in my estimation was the most orthodox online M.A. program to be found.

From 2008 to 2018 I taught philosophy as an adjunct at various colleges in the Louisville, KY, area. I reluctantly got away from teaching. My primary employer wanted me to teach online, something that I was not willing to do. My last year of full-time teaching, in 2017, I taught eight classes at two colleges.  How much do you think I made?...14.9K.  I taught the following courses: Intro. Philosophy, Ethics, Logic, US History, World History, Controversial Views of American History: from WW I to 9-11, Democracy and Communism: A Comparison of Brownson and Marx, and Intro. to World Religions. I operate the website devoted to the late Orestes Brownson (1803-'76), co-founder of Notre Dame: www.orestesbrownson.org.  I also have a Bitchute page, LetsGoBryan: https://www.bitchute.com/search/?query=letsgobryan&kind=video

What I believe:  I am Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus, which necessarily means that I do not accept BoB and BoD as most people define it.  Concerning the New Mass, I accept the conclusions as enunciated by Fr. Wathen in The Great Sacrilege, that it is questionably invalid, unquestionably a mortal sin, and unquestionably illicit.  Concerning sedevacantism, I accept that Francis is pope, but in the end, whether he be or not be, is a non-issue.  *In this age of apostasy what matters is that I receive valid sacraments from a validly ordained priest.  I have had pro-BoD priests call me a heretic and give me Holy Communion.  That is fine, I know what I am, and, as the saying goes, It is what it is! Flat Earth, no, but open to the arguments. There are a multitude of other issues which I find interesting which I may or may not opine about.

The women’s forum is great for women specific subjects, and I highly recommend it.

But homeschooling is just as relevant for the men, in fact we do have a separated  father who homeschools very successfully and fathers are just as concerned as mothers with education of their children.

Probably the best section is Catholics living in the modern world. I think it would be ideal if the homeschooling threads were together in a separate section.

  • Salutations everyone!
I go by the Online Alias of Henri and I'm currently studying in a well known Catholic Academic institution in the UK.
I know looking at the threads that I'm probably going to be on the younger side on here but I wish to spend my time educating myself on the faith and making online Traditional Peers.
In the "Catholic Academic institution" I study at we have the 1962 Missal three times a week, so I have regular Liturgies during Term Time(I am a regular Altar Server aswell). While on Breaks or Term Holidays I try to take the Bus to the SSPX or Indults nearest to me however some days it can be a struggle, especially waking up at 6:30 am Bus to get to my nearest SSPX.
Funnily enough I have been discouraged in the past to not bother with Cathinfo however I'll make up my own judgement :laugh1:

Once again, I'll look forward to read more threads and contributing.
    God Bless!

  • Hello!

I'm from Europe and am in my mid 30s and have just recently begun my catechesis with a resistance priest. Before that I was the member of a famous American religious organization that had it headquarters in New York but has recently moved it.

Therefore, I have a lot to learn and am glad to have found this forum, because it is not that easy to find other traditional Catholics.

    Regards,
    Novato
Welcome!  Did you finish you catechesis stage yet?  I am a bit behind on some of the posts here.  😅

  • Greetings! I'm an eclectic (Montessori/Charlotte Mason/Unschooling) mama of 5 who loves Jesus. So happy to have found you all. I've been searching for a more traditional Catholic forum for a while. So nice to be here!
Welcome to the forum!  How old are your children?

Are you a cradle Catholic or a convert?

I have three boys almost 4 year - 8 weeks. I was raised novus ordo but became traditional as a late teenager.  🥰

  • Hi, everybody: I am a traditional catholic by the grace of God. I attend an SSPX mission in Mexico.

What I believe: Up to the last little dogma of the Roman Catholic Church, especially in these times: the EENS dogma. NO sacraments have to be presumed invalid and, by all appearances, there hasn't been a true successor of St. Peter since 1958. I also believe that many conspiracy theories are true, especially those against the Church, but I mortify my curiosity towards them.

Saints I have a special devotion for: the Mother of God (under the advocations of Our Lady of the Rosary and Our Lady of the Assumption), my guardian angel, St. Joseph, St. John the Baptist, St. Mary Magdalene, the Good Thief, St. Benedict, St. Francis of Assisi, St. John of the Cross, St. Pedro de Alcántara... These are the ones that for some reason I invoke more frequently in my prayers and whose lives I strive to imitate and meditate on the most, but I love all the Blessed in Heaven and I hope they all pray for me.

Prayer habits: three Angelus Domini, one third of the Rosary and the Via Crucis every day. The Little Office of the BVM on the weekends when I have more free time.

God bless you and Mary Most Holy protect you!

Patience is a conquering virtue. The learned say that, if it not desert you, It vanquishes what force can never reach; Why answer back at every angry speech? No, learn forbearance or, I'll tell you what, You will be taught it, whether you will or not.
