    • Hello,
    My name is Fiach, I'm from Ireland, am Half-Irish and Half-Han Chinese and currently 16 years old. I was raised by my mother and my mother's family who come from a very left-wing secularist background (my grandparents were members of the communist party of Ireland and involved in the anti-apartheid movement) 

    So my mother wasn't baptised and I wasn't either, I went to a catholic irish speaking primary school in the capital and then moved to the countryside and went to an English speaking catholic school and was the only non-catholic in my class in both schools. Ironically after going into a secular secondary school I wanted to get baptised. I contacted the local novus ordo parish priest around early 2020 just when covid came, he was enthusiastic about me getting baptised at first but then never contacted me again. After this happened I resented him and the church for a while before contacting the SSPX at the start of the summer, I spoke to the priest in person and since then he has called me every week to help study the catechism and help guide me through the steps to baptism.
     
    I am moving again for the next school year to an isolated Irish Island off the west coast were everyone speaks Irish to become fluent in the language and will sadly not be able to attend Latin mass. So I have decided to use this to my advantage and study the faith, that's why I created this account. 

    Obviously since I am not baptised yet I am in a state of sin, I am currently struggling with slothfulness which leads to things like temptation and unhealthy habits. I enjoy muay thai kickboxing which I started around the start of the year, sadly like Latin mass I won't be able to do it for the year. I enjoy politics but try not to box myself in with any "isms" or be overly political, personally my social views would be simply Christian and my economic view would be corporatism (Implemented in Fascist Italy, Falangist Spain and to an extent modern day China)

    I won't post much since I have practically no knowledge outside the catechism.

    • Welcome Hunter, God bless you on your journey.  I hope the SSPX priest supplied you with a rosary, scapular and a few references for devotions to go along with the catechism.
    Keep in touch with that priest.

    Thanks! I do three hail Mary's every morning and night, but I haven't prayed the rosary fully yet.

    • Welcome to the Forum, Hunter!

    Many of us here on the forum were converts either from protestantism or the novus ordo.  

    The forum is a place to discuss things with other traditional Catholics (especially for those who are secluded) and to help us try to grow in the Faith. So, please feel free to post as much as you want, ask questions and/or just discuss the trials of normal day life.

    Praying that it will not be long before you finish your education in the Faith and get baptized.  I am the only traditional Catholic in my family and all of my family were opposed to my becoming a traditional Catholic.  I was 15 when I first had the desire to split from the novus ordo but was not legally allowed to do almost anything.  Granted, that was over fifteen years ago now, but I can definitely relate to some of the trials and struggles you must be going through.  Hang in there and keep fighting the good fight for your salvation!

    You need one good prayer book and the very best is My Prayer Book by Father F.X. Lasance.  Whether you're new to tradition or an old cradle Catholic you will use this book throughout your whole life.The first third of this book will teach you how to live and practice your new found faith.  The rest of the book is full of prayers and devotions, many from the saints themselves.
    If possible, try to get an old copy from before the 1940's as after Father's death the reprints were very slightly altered unless it states it's a reprint of the 1908.
    And don't try to do everything!!  The church gives us so many devotions that we are free to choose what appeals to our hearts.  Go slow and sure.  God bless you.

    • Hello and Blessing to you all.

    I am a New Catholic trying to follow Jesus in a TLM church in which my wife and I were led to by the Holy Spirit. I look forward to learning more about "The Faith".

    That is why I am here.  God the Father didn't tell me to join a church or seek out his Son, which I am fully doing regardless. I researched everything about Jesus and reading the Gospels and came to the conclusion that Jesus gave His church to Peter and that He goes after the sinners like the shepherd goes after the lost sheep as I was a lost sheep and the saints are already His.

    I hope to learn even more here, so thank you all for your support and love. I have been downloading many great resources provided here by the members.
    Thank you all for these great things and may God Bless all those that believes in His Son's gift to humanity which no man can repay.

    • Greetings everyone,

    my name is Giulio and I'm from Rome, Italy. I was raised by atheist parents and never received Baptism, but these past few years my girlfriend got me closer and closer to the Faith until I asked to receive the Sacraments of Catholic Initiation. I was baptized this past Easter in St. Peter's Basilica by the pope (ironic if you consider where I'm posting this, haha). I had been getting close to the Traditionalist movement even before my Baptism because of Bp. Williamson's videos, especially his conference on Pascendi, but I started regularly attending the Latin Mass only in the past few months at a local SSPX chapel. I have also learned to serve Mass there, something I consider a great honor.
    I usually spend my time praying, studying - I'm getting my degree in Chemistry very soon -, reading, and listening to sermons and conferences. In particular, I've been listening to a lot of conferences by Bp. Donald Sanborn; I know he's not in good standing with SSPX-affiliated individuals, but his lessons on Theology and Morality (which were intended for seminarians) have helped me and guided me a thousand times more than the wishy-washy catechism offered by the New Church.

    I hope to engage in meaningful discussion on this site and to meet like-minded individuals, which is always a rare blessing.
