  • Hello, I started lurking 2 weeks ago, and decided to join. Looks like there's lots of good info here, thanks for making this forum.

I attend the SSPX Masses. I love truth, and seek perfection, and pray others obtain the same.

Also, I have a question: how do I post in the general discussion section?
"Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect."
"Seek first the kingdom of Heaven..."
"Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall render an account for it in the day of judgment"

  • Hi, all!

I'm a catechumen currently in the process of converting to the Traditional Roman Catholic faith. I'm fortunate to be able to attend mass a few times a week, and I pray the rosary often but want to be more devoted to Our Lady. I'm devoted to Christ's Passion and Our Lady of Sorrows. As is the human experience I've struggled all my life hopelessly searching for meaning in the world. All of the deepest longings of my heart have been satisfied since I found the Catholic faith. I love Our Lord and Lady so much for relentlessly calling me and giving me the graces I needed to follow them.

Please pray for me if you don't mind. Offer up an Ave Maria for me for patience, endurance, and purity as I make my way home.

Also if anyone has any book recommendations, sites, podcasts related to the traditional faith they think I should check out please let me know. I love to learn.

    Thank you,

    Anthony of The Cross.
The mercies of the Lord I will sing for ever. - Ps. 88:2a

  • Welcome, rosarytrad! As for books, get the Fr. Lasance New Daily Roman Missal, reprint 1945 edition.  It contains a very understandable method of praying the Mass, basic catechism, lots of prayers and devotions for all occasions, brief biographies of saints for every day, prayers for Masses for every day, nuptial Mass, Funeral Mass, holy days, explanations of the Mass, the vestments, the altar and sacred items, and a study plan for beginners.  It’s a bit pricey, but we’ll worth the money. I don’t know if it matters to you, but it has the pre-1954 version of Holy Week, the second Confiteor, and no St. Joseph added to the canon.  I know the SSPX uses the 1962 version, but it should make little difference in following along.  I’ve been to a number of SSPX chapels and in all of them, the second confiteor was prayed although it isn’t in the ‘62 missal.  The Fr. Lasance has so much more than the SSPX missal.  As for other books, get a Duoay Rheims Bible.  Search online, also, for traditional Masses, many are now live-streamed, thanks to Covid.  There are also conferences, sermons, podcasts on Bitchute, Rumble, YouTube, although the latter is known for censoring and deleting truths they don’t like to hear.  Be aware, also, that there are some off-the-rails sites calling themselves traditional Catholic.  If something seems off, it probably is!  If not sure, ask your priest!
    Again, welcome!

  • Welcome, rosarytrad and be assured of prayers!

I recommend The Glories of Mary

I think once you only just get started on it, you will do the same!

  • Laudetur Iesus Christus!

I found this extremely useful forum while searching for information on the papacy. Thanks Matthew for keeping it alive! (I hope you have backups :D )

After I finally started to investigate the crisis thoroughly and discovering the traditional doctrine on the papacy I have come to the certain conclusion that an apostate heretic can not "declare what is virtuous and what is sinful, what is to be done and what is to be avoided in the work of salvation, for otherwise he could neither be a sure interpreter of the moral word of God nor a safe guide to man.” (Leo XIII Sapientiae Christianae)

So I find myself stranded in this valley of tears without the sacraments for the foreseeable future but never despairing for I know that I am safer now than I ever was.

If anyone has a collection of resources he would like to share it would be most welcome, I am trying to make a backup of any important traditional catholic books, videos and articles I come across.

    God bless you all.

  • Welcome aboard!

Here is a link to Fr. Wathen's The Great Sacrilege and attached is the book: Who Shall Ascend?

You will find that many of the subjects which are addressed in those two books, are the same subjects that trads still question and talk about even today.

Here are some books that helped me to find and understand the traditional Catholic Faith better:
