  • I didn't see any button to open a new post, so I am posting here.

Can we have a new sub-forum created dedicated to COVID-19 ?

Looks like this is going to be a major topic for quite some time.
I agree.  COVID 19 does not fit under General Discussion (which has no "New Post" button),
nor does it fit under "Catholics living in the Modern world",
nor does it fit under "Health and Nutrition",
nor does it fit under "SSPX Resistance".
    .
It might fit under a new category, "Medical Tyranny".

Is it good enough to make the request here?

I think it fits quite well under:
Fighting Errors in the Modern World
Catholics resisting errors, cօռspιʀαcιҽs (Liberalism, Zionism, Fɾҽҽmαsσɳɾყ, ʝʊdɛօ-Masonry, Communism, Modernism) and evil men who conspire against mankind (Neo-cons, Bilderburgers, nєω ωσrℓ∂ σr∂єr, Big Pharma, Media, Globalists, Bankers, etc.)

The majority of the posts approach Covid 19 from the perspective that it involves a conspiracy against mankind and includes Big Pharma, Media and other bad actors.

If there were some advantage to giving it a dedicated area, I would expect Matthew to create a child board in the Fighting Errors sub-forum.  I personally don't see any advantage, but I'm not an admin so what do I know?

  • Well, hey-ell!   I had considered the length of my draft reply, and the fact that I  am completely lacking authority in CathInfo, plus your status as a newbie, and the sensible reply by ‘JayneK’.  So I started to draft a brief intro for sending this message to you via C.I.'s private-message feature, instead of posting it in any C.I. subforum.  Then as I was about to send it, you replied with this rationalization:

The reason is because COVID-19 and the lockdown is a TIME-SENSITIVE issue that if not taken care of REALLY soon, will be a disaster of no-return for the nation. [....] We have a chance now, but we need to group better and have some plans. That cannot be effectively done mixing it with all those other issues.

Sez the newbie?  Uh, huh.  So in replying to that also, my posting grew to even greater length.  More importantly for you, your latest reply could be interpreted as willful rejection of rules recently restated by Matthew about how he insists that C.I. members use his Web site [†] [‡].  Calling them "terms of service" might not be too much of a stretch.  "Mixing it" is a fundamental characteristic of nearly any Internet forum, and before that, nearly any dial-up bulletin boards.

So I've redecided to post my draft reply here, where none of this discussion belongs.

I didn't see any button to open a new post [...]

That's completely correct: There isn't one.  It's absent because so many CathInfo members were cluttering the "General Discussion" subforum with topics that, to a logically thinking person like Matthew, obviously didn't belong there.  But they were an adequate fit to at least 1 of the subforums he's created over the years.  So it seems that he finally hit the limit of his congenial tolerance.  I'm completely sympathetic to that, because I  was increasingly & repeatedly wasting lots of time trying to find postings I'd read long enough ago to forget where they were posted, because they were posted in what was obviously a wrong subforum.  Matthew specifically mentioned member "laziness" in the title of his topic.  The result was very similar to what we'd likely see if members just created their new topics in whatever subforum they read last in their previous browsing session.  I thought that Matthew was being quite charitable in writing "it's not rocket science", because I'd begun to doubt whether certain frequently offending members were suffering, um, persistent mental difficulties.  Be that as it may, Matthew shut off creation of new topics in the "General Discussion".

You needn't take my word for it: Not only because I  am completely lacking authority in CathInfo, but also because Matthew posted his own explanation less than 2 months ago, and it still appears on the 1st page of topics listed under "General Discussion".  I guess he thought that its newsworthiness to C.I. members could not have been any more obvious: "General Discussion closed to new topics, due to laziness and abuse" [†].  In it, he mentioned "COVID" twice.  As he also did in a closely related topic: "PLEASE RESPECT the sub-forums! Not everything goes in General!", esp. his addendum less than a day later [‡].  Yes, I am strongly recommending that you read them both real soon, where now would not be too soon.

[...] so I am posting here.
Can we have a new sub-forum created dedicated to COVID-19?  Looks like this is going to be a major topic for quite some time.

Ah!  So you didn't rummage around for an appropriate COVID-19 topic in some other subforum, and instead indulged yourself in the same kind of laziness for which Matthew had already hit his limit.  What a clever way for a newbie with fewer than 30 posts to get the attention of the CathInfo owner-operator-moderator himself!  In particular, "Introduce yourself" is quite obviously not a place for replies whose sole purpose is to request organizational changes to CathInfo's software, e.g., that Matthew create a new subforum.  I have no special knowledge of Matthew's browsing habits, but it seems to me that posting it in that long-stretched topic is an excellent way to post it where he's unlikely to ever see it.  What you should do instead in such circuмstances is send a private-message to him.  Perhaps you don't realize that you can still do that, even after this newbie faux pas.  Or if that's too confusing, then at least post your request in whichever CoVID-19-titled topic has sprawled over the most pages, which is also where many other members will see it, and likely discuss it.  Because CathInfo is a service implemented as computer software physically hosted by Matthew, he might have considered the "Computers and Technology" subforum not to be an intolerably bad choice.

Such a waste of words. A real beating to try to get through. I wish he would have simply said that I should have written to the admin privately. That does make sense, but sometimes I just don't want to rush to bother an admin.

  • Hello,

I am the Father of a growing traditional Catholic family. My wife and I have been lurking here for a couple of years and I finally made an account. We attend Our Lady of Sorrows in Phoenix, AZ.

I look forward to contributing. God bless you all!  :incense:

Argentino, I agree. I've noticed every post and comment by the Alligator is the same way. It emanates the sin of pride.

  • Hello,

I was Baptized Catholic as an infant, but never Catechized. My parents divorced and my father, who raised me, was raised Presbyterian, though he never attended church. Unfortunately, despite my mother’s insistence that my siblings and I be baptized Catholic, she was never more than a “Chreaster” at best when I was younger, and a heretic and blasphemer as I grew up. Needless to say, I strayed from the Church and committed many of the same sins as my mother from my teens until a couple years ago (I’m 37 now). Thankfully, I was gifted with more intelligence than her and never committed the more serious of her sins, namely divorce (never married) or abortion/murder (never pregnant), but I did participate in the Satanic/occult, and mock our Lord, which perhaps is even worse?

After I reached the bottom of my own limit for sin and depravity, I became severely depressed. Eventually the cognitive dissonance and pain I was experiencing drew me to various conservative e-celebs, breaking my “NPC” brainwashing. This transitioned to reading “politically incorrect” material, particularly on Image Boards, then to the JQ and the realization my entire childhood I had been the victim of demonic forces/people who made me believe my entire history and ethnic identity as descendent of German immigrants was evil.

I was recently confirmed through a parish in Oregon with the TLM and knew from my research that the NO Mass would not help me heal from my former life as a brainwashed Marxist Millennial: I had read Marx and Engels and realized the evils I formerly espoused, had woken up to reality of the JQ, and saw the same type of evils in the NO mass. Thankfully, I was able to attend the TLM every Sunday before the Covid closure happened, which helped my faith, especially given how much the RCIA program I was in was hindering it. Though, to be fair there were a couple elders there who attended TLM, who supported me when I brought up TLM, the Catechism of the Council of Trent (which I was reading during the closure and the absence of RCIA), elders who knew life before NO. However, my sponsor was a Protestant convert who I could not speak to about TLM, nor could she offer much advice when I asked questions about the contradictions I was seeing between RCIA teaching and what I was reading in the Summae or other docuмents from Church Doctors.

So, that has lead me here, because I’d like to learn how to be a faithful Catholic. I thought that I could learn from another Catholic forum, but I was quickly banned for comments I made. I’ll be lurking and learning from past posters, and try to limit the amount of annoying newbie questions.

  • Welcome Arssacra!

I think newbie questions tend to edify us all because answering them often forces us to pause talking higher [armchair] theology and bring us all back to the basic fundamentals of the faith, which is always a very good thing for everyone. So don't be too shy!

  • Welcome Arssacra! I second Stubborn here. Newbie questions are never annoying, so go for it! I am a newbie with regard to some of your jargon and abbreviations. What is NPC and JQ?

You have your mother to thank for her insistence on Baptism, for the Grace imparted in your infancy has "kicked in" in your lowest point and taken you to this point in time when you can embrace the embryonic faith that has been dormant in you. May it blossom and bear fruit in due season. God bless you.

Welcome.  I'm another who likes newbies and newbie questions.  I can relate to your comments about RCIA because I am a convert and went through an RCIA program very far from traditional Catholic teaching.  I hope this forum can help you with your intention of learning to be a faithful Catholic.

  • Seeing as I’ve been posting here for a few months now, an introduction is long overdue, but here it is:

Hello. My name is James, and I am currently 19 years old. I am an American, and I was raised in the Novus Ordo Church, but was only brought there occasionally by my mother, while my father is a lapsed follower of Greek Orthodoxy. I left when I was about 15-16, since I thought that “modern science” had all of the answers, an attitude I picked up from mass media and my public schooling. At this time of my life, I was getting caught up in the “New Atheist” movement, and was one myself for about little over a year. Considering also I had witnessed quite a few abominable Novus Ordo Masses as a young boy, I had learned that the Novus Ordo Religion, which I believed to be Catholicism, was not to be taken seriously.

After a serious depression between that time and around the beginning of my junior year of high school, when I was 17, I became more interested in religion, and specifically what I thought was Catholicism, the Novus Ordo Religion. With my return, I began actively learning about these matters, along with becoming more involved by attending the New Mass (which was the only Mass I knew, if it is even a Mass) and a rather Protestanized Youth Group. I struggled a lot with certain sins at this time, and had many attachments to worldly things and beliefs at this time. At this time, I also was learning about the Catholic Faith online, and thought that the information that I would be finding there would correlate to what I was seeing in real life. Boy, was I wrong. Eventually, by the grace of God, I discovered the tapes of Fr. Gregory Hesse on Youtube, which were then also being circulated by a channel called “Christus Rex”, which got removed some time ago. The other main source I was listening to at the time was Taylor Marshall. This newfound information forced me to reconsider everything that I had now learned, but to make a long story short, it ended up with me leaving the New Mass for good, and with me attending TLM exclusively (FSSP, though I hope to start going to the SSPX chapel in my area when the time comes - doubt over their ordinations has caused me to change in this regard, and I don’t agree with the compromising position they’ve put themselves in). Although I had to fight my parents over this, it was definitely worth it, and now see how the hand of God was guiding me during this pivotal point in my short life. (However, I have been forced to attend the New Mass on occasion by my family, but I never receive communion there anymore and try to act passively).

I have recently been attending college at a Novus Ordo university, having finished my freshman year this May. I went mainly because of my lack of knowledge and naivety towards the New Religion, and the influence of my parents. Quite frankly, I despise it. However, it has given me an opportunity to see through the system of the Conciliar Church for what it is. Seeing the false principles of the NO that I had learned about from Bishop Williamson’s conferences being put into practice before my very eyes shocked me, and made me realize how far gone the Newchurch really is. Without being armed with such knowledge, and without my love of the Faith and the grace of God, I probably would have apostatized. (Interestingly enough, I first “discovered” Bishop Williamson through a video featuring him that was uploaded on Vox Catholica’s YT channel. It’s been taken down by now, I think). I now support the SSPX Resistance position, since I abhor the possibility of a “reconciliation” with the Conciliar Church that will only just turn the SSPX into another FSSP or ICKSP.

I love studying the Catholic Faith, reading, and writing. The rosary, especially praying the 15 decades every day, has been a huge help in my life. I also consider it a great privilege to be the owner of this YouTube channel, which I set up many months ago to help souls learn about the True Faith: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCIaDtOHGHQfAMoudFzfOjw?view_as=subscriber
Look forward to participating more here.
