  • Welcome gseu345! It would be more appropriate to start a thread on this concern you have as this thread is for people to introduce themselves to the other posters and not for discussion. Besides you may miss out on the person who has the knowledge you need because he may not be in the habit of reading the introductions. Make sure you give your thread an appropriate title. Good luck with it. Where in Europe do you live?

  • Dear Nadir,

    Thank you! I'm from Hungary.
I must add that the Traditional 'movement' is rather new here and TLM is celebrated only at two parishes in the whole country. I'm currently attending a NO parish where Mass is celebrated with as much reverence as circuмstances allow (and hope for TLM to spread quicker).

In any case, I'll open a thread for this and see if someone could have a solution.

  • Hello to Cathinfo and all who know who I am! I don't expect to post much (if at all) but, I thought it would be good to give greetings and make my presence known.

    So, Greetings from Alfons Oh.

  • Hello everyone,

    I'm Desmond,
30 years old, male,  and originally from somewhere in the European subcontinent.
After decades of atheism/agnosticism/idontgiveahootism I've recently come back to "catholicism" (after an inner call of sorts).

The issue is I have a very poor understanding on what Catholicism is supposed to even entail, due to all the confusion in our time.

I've been trying since the very beginning to discern the basic tenets of the faith, to little avail, mainly by reading the catechism, magisterial docuмents, etc.

I've been asked to leave/banned from other "catholic" forums before, so well, my hopes aren't sky high about fruitful membership on this particular one.

Nevertheless I shall try to behave and abide by what is asked of me by moderators and fellow posters.

    Thanking everyone in advance,

    Regards,

    Desmond

  • Welcome Desmond! I sense that you will stay here as long as you need and won't be kicked off if you abide by what you say.

What Catechism are you reading and what magisterial docs? Stick with the pre-Vatican II editions and you should not go too wrong. Ditch the Catechism of the Catholic Church issued after Vatican II. The  confusion is a direct result of Vatican II so ditch that too. Catechism of Pope St Pius X should serve you well. Ditto for the pre-Vatican II magisterial docuмents. Read the Lives of the Saints and the Bible, esp the Gospels praying all the time to the Holy Spirit and your Guardian Angel to guide you. And don't forget to pray your Rosary every day - a true safeguard.

You can ask any questions you want to here and we will try to help. Are you attending a traditional Latin Mass?

Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,

I've read the Catechism of Pius X, but I've found it teaches the soul-body of the Church dichotomy, which I find problematic and cannot reconcile logically with other doctrines. I rejected the so-called "Vatican II religion" decades ago, hence my atheist years, out of sheer instinct even before a rationalisation, and honestly said teaching evokes a similar response, along with others such as "invincible ignorance" et similia.
I've read dozens of threads on this very forum about the issues, and that is the primary reason I actually registered.

I did and am from time to time. I have never prayed the Rosary as I do not know how. No one ever taught me during my N.O. catechism. So I limit myself to the Pater Noster and Ave Maria mainly. Sometimes I have recited St. Michael's prayer (lay version).
I only know personally very few catholics, and all of them are "novusordites", and lukewarm at that.

I have never attended a TLM, the only one avaliable in my area is off the VII church, (the nearest SSPX chapel is couple hundred miles away) and thanks to sedevacantist material I am now dubious as to the validity of the reformed Rite of Ordination, therefore I doubt the Priest is even valid.
I only attended N.O.'s Sunday masses and last time was years ago. I have attended Funerals though.
I will be hopefully moving to the UK in a few short months, and check out some "resistance" chapels, even to simply just seek counsel about my issues first and foremost.

    Thank you.

  • Desmond, thank you for putting us in the picture. One never knows just how much another knows...

It is extremely important for you to learn to pray the Rosary, especially if you do not have access to a traditional Holy Mass. Here is a site which will be helpful. https://www.olrl.org/pray/ Scroll down the menu to The Rosary and you will find how to pray the Rosary. You will find that things will fall into place if you pray the Rosary every day.

God bless you. I will pray for you.

    Thank you Nadir,
does it matter where I procure myself one?
For instance, can I get one from a regular N.O. church?
    Does it matter?
A couple years ago a rumour circulated around, addressed by Fr. Amorth himself, about allegedly desacrated/satanic rosaries for instance.

As far as praying the Rosary helping to discern truth, and not only helping in one's salvation, as traditionally said, and reiterated at Fatima, I'm very skeptical about.

Most people identifying as "catholics" pray the Rosary, yet are in utter confusion.

In fact, the whole cult of Medjugorje is centered around the Rosary and the most common (false?) miracles seem to be transmutation of rosaries from common materials into gold/silver.

  • Desmond,  there are many good souls who make Rosary Beads or you could buy from a religious order. Would you take these questions/comments to a new thread?  This isn't the appropriate venue for such discussions. I think there would be a lot of valuable input which would otherwise be unmade on this introduction thread. Still praying!

  • My name is Anthony and I'm a 15 year old male who was born and raised Roman Catholic. I began my life at a novos ordo church where I learned the basics of traditional Catholicism. This continued up until the priest was sent west because parents of spoiled sociopathic children complained that the Fr. was actually disciplining the children for misbehaving. After Fathers departure the priest that took over had an I.Q. roughly equivalent to a housefly so my family has been attending a traditional Roman Catholic parish since, in the archdiocese of Detroit. I attended a catholic school that was borderline Protestant and the experience was rather shocking. I found that I had had been light years ahead of the other children when it came to simple Catholic doctrine. I mean most barely knew the Hail Mary. The religion books themselves spoke more of tolerance than actual religion. So here is where I became a hermit who hates everyone.

After four years at that sinkhole I entered a public high school with A's and B's and a hatred of anything public. After a few weeks and catching up with my formerly Catholic classmates I find that my classmates have predominantly become gαy. So after a straight year of taking useless electives and a 75% average on all my grades I left the public school and pursued education at home. Now I take twice as many classes and get straight A's. So now at this time my only issue in life is dealing with my Protestant cousins that come over every Sunday for dinner. This has been going on for two years and every single Sunday they want to talk politics and to be frank I've heard more intelligent sounds out of a donkey's rear end. So after 2 years of my aunt with yet another boyfriend at the age of 45 and my Jew worshipping grandmother these Sunday's die after my mother finally had it with every type of passive aggressive behavior you can think of. After all these years of being spoon fed liberal bs and Protestant "enlightenment" I am a dedicated Catholic who is extremely happy to have found a website to peruse a higher understanding of the one true faith. (Also I should add that if this finds itself somewhere completely random I am still attempting to figure out many of this websites functions so I apologize to anyone I may be inconveniencing.)

Regards to all who follow Christ and His holy church.
