Welcome Desmond! I sense that you will stay here as long as you need and won't be kicked off if you abide by what you say.
Thank you Nadir.
What Catechism are you reading and what magisterial docs? Stick with the pre-Vatican II editions and you should not go too wrong. Ditch the Catechism of the Catholic Church issued after Vatican II. The confusion is a direct result of Vatican II so ditch that too. Catechism of Pope St Pius X should serve you well.
Ditto for the pre-Vatican II magisterial docuмents.
I've read the Catechism of Pius X, but I've found it teaches the soul-body of the Church dichotomy, which I find problematic and cannot reconcile logically with other doctrines. I rejected the so-called "Vatican II religion" decades ago, hence my atheist years, out of sheer instinct even before a rationalisation, and honestly said teaching evokes a similar response, along with others such as "invincible ignorance" et similia.
I've read dozens of threads on this very forum about the issues, and that is the primary reason I actually registered.
Read the Lives of the Saints and the Bible, esp the Gospels praying all the time to the Holy Spirit and your Guardian Angel to guide you. And don't forget to pray your Rosary every day - a true safeguard.
I did and am from time to time. I have never prayed the Rosary as I do not know how. No one ever taught me during my N.O. catechism. So I limit myself to the Pater Noster and Ave Maria mainly. Sometimes I have recited St. Michael's prayer (lay version).
I only know personally very few catholics, and all of them are "novusordites", and lukewarm at that.
You can ask any questions you want to here and we will try to help. Are you attending a traditional Latin Mass?

I have never attended a TLM, the only one avaliable in my area is off the VII church, (the nearest SSPX chapel is couple hundred miles away) and thanks to sedevacantist material I am now dubious as to the validity of the reformed Rite of Ordination, therefore I doubt the Priest is even valid.
I only attended N.O.'s Sunday masses and last time was years ago. I have attended Funerals though.
I will be hopefully moving to the UK in a few short months, and check out some "resistance" chapels, even to simply just seek counsel about my issues first and foremost.
Thank you.
