  • Welcome, Joshua. Sorry I can't help you there as I am not familiar with the set-up in the US, but I suggest you are likely to get a response if you start a new thread with this question in the title.

    God bless you!

  • Hello, my name is Barry, and I live in Canada with my American wife and two home-schooled children.  I lived in the Cincinnati area for many years, and know many of the clergy (and hundreds of the laity) in the Ohio-Kentucky and Midwest area, from the many chapels.

I currently attend Mass at the SSPX and also an independent priest.

We went from attending the Novus Ordo to the real Traditional Roman Catholic world when I was a teenager, thanks to the courage and faith of my parents (God rest their souls), even though they lost most of their friends at the time.  We never regretted it - only the necessity of doing so, and the fact that the pastors abandoned their flock.  May God have mercy on their souls.

Theologically, I am probably overly hopeful about the various brands of Traditional Catholics working together since they would rather die than deny an article of the Faith.  In truth, I am probably closest to a sedeprivationist, but pray that God restores the Church soon.  I have no plans to join under Francis I as long as he is not of the same eternal Faith that my parents taught me, but I pray for him.

I probably won't post a lot - only when I think I have something of value to add, which will not probably be often.

Question:  I want to post something (of value!), which has three columns.  How do I do that, or where should I post this type of Question?

    God bless you,

    Barry

  • Welcome Barry!
Not sure what you mean by 3 columns, but post it in the General Forum - Matthew will move it if it's not in the right forum so no worries!

  • I'm from Ireland and I attend a Diocesan indult Mass. It is a fine building with a magnificent choir. Confession are held just before and about half way through Mass. It would be interesting if there were any independent priests around here, as all I know of otherwise are SSPX chapels and other Novus Ordo churches that would have a First Friday indult Mass. I someone was prevented from registering at CAF, posted a bit at Suspice Domine.

  • Hello,

A family member recommended this forum as a way to research traditional Catholic  home-school options and possibly some helpful hints as I start on this journey. I would like to be added to the women's forum if possible. I attend a small SSPX chapel within the US. Thank you.

  • My name is Sherlayne and I'm 69 years old.  I'm currently in a nursing home but I don't know if I'm here permanently.  My problem is falling, so they're teaching me to use a walker.  I'm doing quite well.

I have a wonderful husband who is living in our home about 15 miles away.  I have a 37-yr old son from my first marriage who is married to a lovely woman.  They have 2 children, a boy (toddler) and a girl (2 mos. old).  My family means everything to me.  They visit me regularly and we are all very close.

I come from a protestant family but converted to the RCC when I was a teen.  My parents did not object.  During the past few years I have developed many doubts and I'm non-practicing at this time.  I've come to believe that our church (which I stlll hold dear) is a black and white institution in a gray world.  I won't ever leave the RCC though as I've loved it for so long; I'd just like to see it become a little more realistic.  I think our new pope is wonderful, compassionate and merciful.

I live in the U.S., on the east coast and I'd love to develop more faith and have fewer doubts.  As far as the sex scandals go, I never blamed the church, only the guilty individuals who committed those terrible sins.

I'm happy that I found a group like this; I'm here primarily to learn and listen to others' points of view.

    Sincerely,
    Sherlayne

  • Welcome, Sherlayne. I'm 69 too, but a Cradle Catholic. Actually very few of us here think this pope is wonderful! You'll learn why, if you stick with us.

Maybe you can post some of your doubts on a new thread. We'd love to hear them and discuss with you either in the open or in the women's section.

  • I like to take this time for those members of Cathinfo, old and new, to inform everyone ,that I have decided to change my name from , "Director", to Binechi.

In thinking it over for some time , I have decided that the name director takes away from the Moderator, in that he is the guiding light on this Form, and earns that respect.

Being new to this sort of communication, at the time, I just picked a name out of the hat, not thinking how important it would come to mean., so my decision.

Thank you for your patience with the old Director over the years, and look for the old , but new "Binechi"

  • What does Binechi mean? Is it Italian and so pronounced Bineki? Or is it Bye neki? or binechi rhyming with spinachy?

  • Hi!
I'm Elisabetta, I'm living in West Point, Nebraska, but I'm actually an Exchange Student from Rome, Italy (so please forgive my poor grammar).
I thought it was nice to join a Catholic forum to read and compare being Catholic in Rome and in the USA.

Since I come from Rome, I know everybody is thinking: "Did she meet the Pope?" So before you all are gonna ask me, the answer is yes!
I "met" John Paul II when I was a kid (probably around 6) and Pope Benedict few years ago, when he came to my parish. And I didn't actually meet Pope Francis, but I had the opportunity of singing for him in May of last year. Hopefully I will be able to take a selfie w/ him as many have already done!

    What to say more?!
My italian family is not Catholic, actually, it is not even Christian. My grandparents and me are the only Catholic. It has Always been hard for me to get closer to Christ, not being able to share my faith w/ my family. I Always missed the possibility of going to Church all together on Sunday and being able to share His Body.
But I know God is w/ me! My host family here in Nebraska is Catholic, and I am living w/ them what I Always dreamed for my family: to share the word of Christ.

I will be leaving the USA on August 15 and I hope to bring much w/ me. I already feel like I grew in Christ during this year and I would love to keep getting closer to Him.

    God Bless
    Elisabetta

P.s. I'm taking an important English test on Friday. It will allow me to attend my dream college. ..Prayers are Always a great help (:

  • Hello, my name is Guingamp. I am a student of theology in Germany ( the german theology is extremly modernistic ) and I will finish my studies this year. I hope my grammar and orthography is okay. I am no sedisvacantist, but I think that the condition of the church is really dreadful and I do not see the will of the authority to reorganize the situation.
I am an adherent of thomistic philosophy and theology. In this area I prefer the strict thomism ( especially Garrigou Lagrange ). I would like to write my doctoral thesis about Garrigou Lagrange and at the moment I am looking for a professor who would accept this topic ( it is not so easy and it won't be helpful for my future career as a theologian because neo-scholastic philosophy is despised by nearly all german theologians ).
I am dealing with spiritual and mental problems. I am suffering some ( I think ) psychosomatic diseases ( maybe someone knows "visual snow" ) and I have nearly no religious feeling or something like that. I do not know the reason. It is hard for me to pray ( maybe someone is able to recommend a book or so to deal with this problem ), but my faith is not grounded in feelings. It is an act of the will, forced by reason and i will wait for the grace of God. For this reason I actually do not know what is my vocation.

  • Good afternoon,

I am Janine, and I live in Bruthen, Victoria, Australia.

I attend Mass at Tynong, which is a bit of a drive, but very worth it.

We have four children, and I'm hoping to have some good discussions here with fellow Catholics of the traditional variety.
