Good Morning!
I just found this forum and decided to register to learn and be able to discuss traditional Catholicism.
About myself:
Born and raised in Texas, in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I was homeschooled from 1st-12th grade. After high school I went to a military academy and graduated in 2012 with a BS in Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering and a commission as a junior officer. I'm currently stationed in Washington, DC in a desk job, which is far from my first choice but then again I didn't have much of a choice.
I married my best friend from high school in October and have enjoyed every bit of our marriage so far. :)
I'm an avid skier, sailor and backpacker. I also love rock climbing and mountaineering.
My family was a migratory Catholic family, although I lived in the same town until I went to college, we attended 5 different parishes in 18 years. At first we went to the local charismatic Christian community on Sundays after attending mass at our official Catholic parish, which was just a typical suburban parish. Then we stopped going to the charismatic services and went solely to our home parish. After a while we then moved to a more traditional parish and attended the Novus Ordo in Latin. Our pastor was moved out to a different parish, about an hour outside of Dallas, and we followed him there. After my freshman year at college they joined the TLM parish that had just started (it was a TLM community and then bought a church and became a parish).
Anyways, that's kind of my background... Hoping to learn and be able to appreciate the Extraordinary Form in a more meaningful way as well as have intelligent discussions about living a Catholic life in the modern world.
Cheers,
Joe
