    Hello, Nathan!

Before your interest in the True Church, were you Protestant or something else? It's so great to see an up and coming Catholic. :)

So you quit taking RCIA classes? Are you recieving instruction from a traditional priest now? I've heard many RCIA horror stories.   I was just wondering where you at in your conversion process.

At any rate, welcome aboard! We're glad to have you. :)

As a child I attended a small evangelical church that belonged to my uncle's family but my mother and stepfather were not religious and I never really was either. The RCIA classes I went to were three years ago, I was not yet in a religious frame of mind and I ended up unable to take them seriously. Right now I'm figuring out how to find a traditional priest in my area.

    Thanks for the welcomes!

  • Hi everybody. I'm a married Catholic. I live in Tustin, Ca. USA. I'm semi-retired. When I find time, I go to Saint Cecilia Church in Tustin. I have no children. My wife has two. We only have my sister and her family living in southern California with us. My mom and step dad are in heaven with the Lord. Most my family reside in Washington. I'm glad to be here with my fellow brothers and sisters. Thank you.

  • Hi Tony, I read your blog on chivalry and you are a great writer, I enjoy your style, it is down to earth.  Your use of words show you have the gift and yet you are not trying to impress someone with fancy words.  I hate to read things where I need a dictionary at hand trying to figure out exactly what the author was saying.

Now lets  hope someone does not come along and call you a troll.  lol! A word some like to toss around on this forum.

I will say this; I am a grandmother and I still find people very helpful.  Just the other day I purchased a 42 lb. bag of kitty litter from Costco,  and a big bag of Miracle Grow.  I was struggling to get these heavy items into my car when another customer saw me.  She, yes, another women in this case, came running over to help me.  I was very grateful!

Just know that when you help an elderly we do appreciate it.
    Please pray for my soul.

  • Greetings from balmy South Louisiana in the middle of summer:

I looked around on this site before introducing myself, so I know that there may be flames and misinformation, but here goes:

I am John Lambert; I am an Old Roman Catholic Deacon.  Professionally I am a tenured university associate professor.  I earned my undergraduate degree in the 1970's, and returned to grad school late in life, earning my MBA and DBA.  In addition to my work in the US, I supervise doctoral students for a grand ecole in  France, and soon will be supervising some for another program based in The Netherlands. I am now back in school working on my Master's degree in Pastoral Theology.

The philosophy that I wish to offer is that we of Tradition, we of Apostolic Succession, need to work together. Our numbers are small (Old Roman Catholic numbers are especially small), but we of Tradition frequently have very little that separates us.  I urge everyone to consider the Epistle from last Sunday (10th Sunday after Pentecost) in the Traditional calendar.  I believe that it applies to some of our points of disagreement between and among Traditionalists:

    EPISTLE ¤ I Cor. 12. 2-11
Lesson from the first Epistle of Blessed Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians.

[Our acts are not only supernatural if they proceed from the Holy Ghost; without His aid we are powerless and given to sin; we are not even able to pronounce the Name of Jesus, affirming His divinity, save by His inspiration.]

Brethren, You know that, when you were heathens, you went to dumb idols, according as you were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man, speaking by the Spirit of God, saith Anathema to Jesus; and no man can say: The Lord Jesus, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of graces, but the same Spirit; and there are diversities of ministries, but the same Lord; and there are diversities of operations, but the same God, who worketh all in all. And the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man unto profit. To one indeed, by the Spirit, is given the word of wisdom; and to another, the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit; to another the grace of healing in the one Spirit; to another, the working of miracles; to another, prophecy; to another, the discerning of spirits; to another, divers kinds of tongues; to another, interpretation of speeches. But all these things one and the same Spirit worketh, dividing to every one according as He will.

Considering the foregoing, I pray that together we can advance Tradition and most importantly, the message of our Savior Jesus Christ.

    Dominus Vobiscuм
    Deacon John Lambert

Ok, here's a brief profile of me.

I am 36 years old. I live in Southern California. I was born in Lebanon but left when I was 2 years old because of the cινιℓ ωαr between the Muslims and Christians. I was consquently raised in Saudi Arabia, England, and Belgium. I came to the United States in 1984.

I am a Maronite Catholic but only went to the Novus Ordo Mass all my life (that is when I would go to Mass -which wasn't that often since I wasn't raised strongly in the Catholic faith).

I was introduced to traditional Catholicism by Mike Solimanto about 6 years ago (he made a response on EWTN against the error of an "expert" there and I e-mailed him to get more info. about the topic and continued to e-mail him after that). I now alternate between going to the SSPX chapel for Mass and independent chapels. If I am too tired to get to a TLM, I reluctantly end up going to the more conservative of the N.O. Masses in town (during which time  I read from the traditional prayers of the TLM and only look up during the consecration)

I have been taking care of my 95 year old grandmother for 5 years now - day and night shift - and I only get 1 day off a year. You can't imagine the extreme mental and physical fatigue this entails. My body's aged beyond it's years and I'm suffering from depression. I'm sooooooooooooo unbelievably tired.

Granny and I live with my parents (I wish I could move out but, since I take care of Granny, I can't). My two brothers  also live with us. My sister used to live with us until she got married 4 years ago and moved to France.

I have no desire to ever get married and I don't want to become a nun, so I don't know what God has in store for me in the future.

Anyway, that's the short of it.

Sorry to hear about your situation.  I go to OLHC.  Been there about a year.  It takes a while to break in to that crowd...at least it did for me.  If you go and need intros, let me know.  Cheerio

  • My name is James and I believe in the Traditional Catholic church.
I don't like anything about the novus ordo church, and I think Vatican 2 was at least an outrageously stupid decision or at worst apostacy, but am still making my mind up on the subject.

Essentially I wonder about the orthodoxy of the modern church. I want to become a professional religious, but everywhere I could potentially join is so liberal it would turn my stomach. I don't think the liberal church is the real church and I don't see how I or anyone else could be motivated to devote their lives to a church that is so sickenly liberal and heretical.

I will post on this topic if my account is activated ( I got an error message when I registered)

Look forward to receiving wisdom from the posters on here, I see a lot of people who think like me are on this forum.

Basically I want answers. How can a mass so empty be valid, how can a pope who disses tradition at every opportunity be a valid pope, how can the modern popes contradict previous popes to such extremes as seeming like they are not even in the same religion - still be popes? I thought there was supposed to be unbroken continuity!

    Hi everyone!
    Finally registered because:
    1) Love this forum!
    2) Feel semi-confident enough to jump into conversations (I am a rookie with computers - not talking...)

I'm a trad wife and mom of many (9), attend Mass at an SSPX chapel, and try to be a good Catholic (not one of those "nice" ones...can't spell "nice" the way His Excellency says it...)
My husband and I were awaken from our slumber a little while ago, realizing the catastrophe that was under our noses; the generator that was keeping the Church going in this present crisis was itself spluttering. As if raising children to be good Catholics in this crazy world wasn't enough...

That's about all, I guess. We're fighting the good fight, just like you all are, too. God bless!

Mother of nine?  I love you already!  It was the issue of contraception that first got me to study authentic Catholicism.
"I receive Thee, redeeming Prince of my soul. Out of love for Thee have I studied, watched through many nights, and exerted myself: Thee did I preach and teach. I have never said aught against Thee. Nor do I persist stubbornly in my views. If I have ever expressed myself erroneously on this Sacrament, I submit to the judgement of the Holy Roman Church, in obedience of which I now part from this world."
