  • I was thinking it would be a good idea to start a thread where people could talk a bit about themselves, to help form a sense of community here on Cathinfo.

  • I'm nearly 33. Married. Two young children (aged nearly 3 and nearly 18 months).

I was brought up Novus Ordo, but gradually eased my way into tradition. Starting with occasional indults about 12 years ago. I've not been to a New Rite for 6 or 7 years. I attend SSPX Masses now.

I'm a housewife/mother. I used to work in solicitors' accounts.

    Clare.

  • My name is Eamon Shea.  I am 33, and am employed as a teacher at St. Gertrude the Great School in Cincinnati.  I grew up in Florida, just north of Saint Augustine.  God has blessed me abundantly in life, particularly in granting me the true faith some seven years ago.  God reward each of you, and please pray for me.

  • I am El Campy. :p

I'm about to enter college next fall and have been a traditional Catholic for about a year.

I started to get into Distributism (the most Catholic of economic systems!) and Monarchism and I'm trying to do some reading into Catholic Corporatism (but can't find anything except secular Corporatists).

I still haven't decided what to do for a career, so I'm hoping to talk to some older people who have families here on the forum.
(please pm El Campy, ye wise mothers and fathers)

I'm trying to plan a less worldy life so I decided not to own some modern luxuries.

I don't like math.  I do very well in math, especially Algebra, but me no likey math, too boring. :light-saber:  Pay my taxes (when I have taxes) and whatever necessary math I'll need to do in life, but I say no more! :really-mad2:

I also DO NOT like to write research papers.  Making bibliography and works cited pages is necessary, but kinda drab and boring.

Those are probably two of the only things I would not like to do in my career.

  • Hi!  I wanted to remain somewhat anonymous (but people I know are coming up to me and thanking me for my posts, so perhaps it's not working).

Anyway, I just wanted to take this opportunity to inform those who have asked me time and time again:

No, my real name is not "Erica".

  • i'm 20, a college student, and live in southern california.  i was baptized when i was a baby but wasn't really raised catholic.  i don't think any of my family other than my grandparents are practicing; my immediate family is quite critical of me.  i'm new to tradition, i started attending indults and sspx masses during the summer.  in december, someone from these forums informed me that some indy priests come down to my area every sunday and holy day of obligation.

i don't post much since i don't feel that i can add much to the discussions since i don't know too much, but i do lurk frequently and learn a lot.

    peace

Well, your profile does give a link to your blog, which does include a photo!

  • I've been checking this site out for a while. Thought I'd join today. I like the atmosphere. Free speech but fit for Catholics.

I'm interested in Church Music, Church History, and Scripture. Devoted to St Therese.

I like simple give and take on peaceful matters with fellow Catholics. Example: I ask, "When did the Souls of the Just enter Heaven?" and someone answers, "Saint So-and-so says Ascension Thursday." Or someone asks, "What's that funny word for that box with a kneeler you pray on?" and I answer, "Prie-dieu."

I don't like doctrinal controversy too much even though I follow it avidly, but will step in with what I humbly consider a point to consider.

  • Thanks, Gladius. No problem about the crotchetiness. I've seen much worse. By the way, what do you call those ostrich feather fans that the popes used to be fanned with?

  • I am a lot like CampeadorShin in that I too am about to enter college, and have been a baptised Catholic for about a year.
I also got into Distributism and Monarchism and I'm studying Catohlic Theology and History in 102.

I have not yet decided what to do for a career, but leaning towards RealEstate and or Property management, which unforunately will require some math, which I hate, but also got very good at algebra even though I vehemently despise it.
But unlike in that I love to write, papers articles, blogs ect.

I encountered Catholicism two years ago, and still awating confirmation.
ChantCd, if I had found this a month ago I might have visited you, as I was in texas for the christening of my nephew.

Gladious, good to see someone from St. Gertrude, do you happen to know Raymond?

I am a former anti-Catholic baptist, and a proud Traditional Catholic. Glad to find a place for Traditional Catholics.

  • You might want to read the "Greater Depression" subforum on this site a bit -- and learn about the Housing Crash before becoming a realtor.

There will be more and more realtors looking for work (looking for income, at least) and fewer and fewer buyers. One blog keeps saying there will be thousands of Realtors "eating Ramen noodles" because they will be VERY low on income.

    Just a suggestion.

    Welcome to the forum!
