  • This topic ( http://www.topix.com/forum/city/st-marys-ks/TRITRPEGNTO3KVR4G) got my blood up so here was my response:

I have a number of issues with the orignal poster of this thread- the first is that there is an assumption that there is a correct number of children to have and an incorrect number of children to have and that if you have more than the correct number, than that is irresponsible.  This is exactly the sort of person who would be following Hitler all the way down because you could just get him all jumped up with whatever the current prominent belief should be (as presented by the media) and he will go along with it. Media says having multiple children is irresponisble (how dare you make a comparison with "Octo mom"  - you show your ignorance of these families in doing so) There is no dictatorship saying how many children one should or should not have - this is America - not only abortion (essentially murder) is okay, but now you think there should be a quota on the number of children?  Why don't you just admit you're a communist and think we should have a 1 child law and kill the rest, because they aren't "affordable"?

The second is that there are a lot of good people on both sides of the fence in St.Mary's - I've worked with a lot of them (on both sides) - the ones who typically have the issues are older. Whereas the generation that were raised side by side with the SSPXer children don't usually have an issue with it.  It's just how it is - and even though they know the trads live a totally different lifestyle, dependent on a completely different set of values, that hasn't stopped them from being friends.  More frequently than not what I have heard from the non-trad youth is,"yeah, we thought you guys were all weird and crazy b/c that's what mom and dad told us."

Traditional Catholics are not in a cult - anymore so than you would say someone following what the believe to the exclusion of other beliefs is in a cult.  They have the same problems as any other society - some are arrogant, and rude.  Some are lazy and irresponsible.  But really, if they weren't overall trying to be good people (even according to your own terms much less the Church's), there would really be no point in sacrificing what one has to sacrifice to be a traditional Catholic, it's just not worth it.

You rant about the number of kids and the welfare, and the secrecy, and this and that other really silly comspiracy stuff, which honestly the trads have every right to laugh up their sleeve at.  And why can they laugh?  Because they aren't "hoarding weapons" - they aren't running drugs (or whatever theory you have for how they get money to pay for all those kids), they are just people who work their tails off to raise their kids in they way they want, the way that they (according to the US consistution) have the right to. So unless you are planning on relinquishing your rights as a US citizen, why don't you try to help build a community rather than tearing it down?
