Over the course of the last week or so, I have left indications in several threads pointing to longer, more substantive posts that I had intended to write at a later date. Those posts have not appeared, nor are they likely to appear in the immediate future. The threads in question have since diverged rather far from the premises that defined them at the point when I promised future correspondence, and I have been caught outside the hysteresis loop. Something of what I intended to say at that time will no doubt work its way into an entirely separate posting; but as for the original endeavors, I am afraid I will have to abandon them. I apologize to anybody who might have been expecting them. If the matter was important to you, please send me a private message and I will write you back with an appropriately elaborated answer.

I would have liked to parse the controversies carefully, with each step in the argument adequately explained and sourced, so that the final presentation would have been air-tight. That would have been real scholarship, but unfortunately I did not possess the time or mental energy to go ahead with the project.

Additionally, I have found myself getting rather burned out by the fruitless disagreements I was getting into. Therefore, I believe that in the future, I will try to confine myself to writing about subjects which will provide me with a sense of accomplishment whether anybody agrees with me or not. Politics, economics, historiography, and psychology will likely comprise the bulk of my future oeuvre.
