I came across the following quote:

Here's the problem with your logic: Those 8, 10, or 12 members online you see at the bottom of the screen are NOT ALWAYS THE SAME MEMBERS!

CathInfo has 730 registered users at the present moment, not counting the hundreds of guests who visit the forum on a daily basis.

I realize that the 730 includes several banned members, and that several don't come here anymore -- but we have several hundred "regulars" to be sure. Plus all the guests, who can't ignore anyone.

Just wanted to clear up that common misconception, since I've seen it posted again and again.

Now what's with the deal with new members not being able to read/send PM. This is what I look at when I sign in:

And when I click messenger I get this message: "To use the private message system, you must be an established member."

What is up with that?

I'm a little disappointed that my ignore count has gone down to 5. Who am I, Christopher West? The truth is supposed to be unpopular.

Hi Matthew,
While I think the ignore option is a great feature can be helpful to people at various times, I also think you might want to reconsider the "ignored by __" message that's displayed at the bottom of each poster's message. I think that it might unnecessarily discourage people.

It was a modification to prevent people from registering and then spamming via the PM system. It seems the original board programming even allowed "awaiting activation" users to PM people. (So, no real email address was even necessary.)

You're mighty popular to have 3 PMs in 3 days.

Also, the intention wasn't to prevent you from reading PMs, only from sending them. I'd imagine it will be modified the next time Matthew is working on such things.
