  • Quote from: Uriel
"At that time I beheld the Ancient of Days,
while he sat upon the throne of his glory, while the book of the living
was opened in his presence, and while all the powers which were above the heavens stood around and before him." Book of Enoch 47:3 (Ethiopic, Artisan pub)

From combined research, the origins of The Kolbrin can be traced back to a large collection of manuscripts salvaged from Glastonbury Abbey during an arson attack that was intended to destroy them. It was the time of history when there was a great suppression of monasterys. As fate would have it, the once considered heretical works were transcribed on bronze tablets by the religious druids of the time. Since they were thought to be destroyed during the fire, they were preserved in secrecy.

If you enjoy reading the Book of Enoch then you most likely likewise enjoy is one also:

Yes, it might be fake. Same thing can be said about the Book of Enoch and other writtings. Just thought it was a good reading...fiction or not.

The Book of Enoch is not "fake" in the way this is.  It is considered theological literature, and the Ethopic Orthodox have it in their Canon.  It is also referred to in the Bible.  It is either 1) not necessary for salvation, or, 2) inaccurate.  This thing is invented from whole cloth.

Reading apocrypha can be dangerous if it is read in a way that contradicts Scripture or Church teaching, but reading outright falsehoods is like drinking poison.

  • Human beings tend to be curious -- as they say, "curiosity killed the cat."

Before you indulge in delicious morsels of curiosity such as the Book of Enoch, I'd say read the whole Catholic Bible, as well as some commentaries on it. You'll go much further in your spiritual life, and you will be much better-equipped as a Catholic.

It may not be as titillating or exciting, but it's certainly better for your soul!

Moreover, there are SO MANY books that would form your mind better than apocryphal literature. True Devotion to Mary, Intro to the Devout Life, countless lives of the saints, and many more. I'm sure people on here could give you a great reading list. (I'm not going to post any links here, or people will think I'm just posting this out of greed, and not concern for souls.)

If you've read hundreds of Catholic books, and have your theology/philosophy/history/catechisim/liturgy/spirituality/apologetics straight, then maybe you should read the Book of Enoch for recreational reading.

  • Did anyone write "Obedience to Christ?"

"And I say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and he that shall marry her that is put away, committeth adultery."

  • I dunno, did anyone write "Acceptance of Papal Authority?"

These is such a thing as the scandal of leading people into schism from the Pope.  You might want to look into that while I look into my issues.  Because, God willing, you're going to wake up one day, realize you've been wrong about the Vacant See and/or your authority to proclaim it, and then deal with the effects of your actions on others just as I will need to deal with my own.
