Title: If I were building a PC today, here is what I'd recommend

For the main guts. Everything else is just using Amazon's search function (DDR4 RAM, hard drive, mouse, keyboard, etc.)

Nice fan.  I'm in the market for a new one.

Processor is a bit overkill for most people's needs though, don't you think?

I have an i5-- Microcenter sale for about $125 a few years ago when it retailed for around $200-- and it's still humming along no different from the day I installed it.  Though I suppose perhaps I haven't put it to the same sort of resource intensive work into it as you might.  Have played a lot of Crusader Kings with it, though, and done a fair amount of video processing, both of which are highly CPU intensive. 

Do you think SSD's are worth the money?  I have a really hard time justifying one so long as they're priced at ~$10/GB.
