Ideas for my imaginary Kingdom?

  • I think most people would consider me crazy. I mentioned to someone a few things that I would do if I were king and that the way people are now they would probably rebel and αssαssιnαtҽ me because I would make so many things illegal. This person asked me to write down some of the things I would do if I were king and show them. So I am asking for ideas of some of the rules I should make if I were king.

Here are some of the rules I would make:

There would be no elections, this would be a hereditary monarchy and there would be governors appointed by the king.

Usury would be illegal. If anyone was found to be making illegal loans at interest, their wealth would be confiscated. The currency would have to be commodity based because fiat currency is inherently usurious.

Women would not be allowed to wear pants, with exceptions made for those loose pants that some Asian women wear with long tunics that cover the waist and go down to their knees. Women who break this law will be at first fined, but if they fail to comply after several fines, then they will be flogged. Men would also be fined for cross-dressing. There would also be similar fines and punishments for wearing immodest clothing, for example at beaches. I know this will be very unpopular.

Contraception would be illegal. These laws will be very harsh. I would even consider making the spreading or selling of contraception a capital offense, although I would not punish those who use contraception as harshly as those who spread it. Abortionists would be tortured slowly and then killed. These executions would not be in public. Women who procure abortions would be pardoned if they turn in the abortionist so that he could be executed. Of course scientists who experiment with human life and try to make clones, or use aborted babies in experiments like the people who make vaccines would be severely punished.

The official religion would be the true Catholic religion. People who are not Catholic might be tolerated as long as they do not try to spread their religion. They will only be allowed to worship in private homes as public worship in false religions would be prohibited. There would be higher taxes on non-Catholics and they would not be allowed to be citizens. Non-Catholics would not be allowed to hold government positions and in many towns and cities they would be required to live apart from Catholics in separate neighborhoods. If there were public schools they would be Catholic schools. Unnecessary work on Sunday would be prohibited and stores would all be closed on Sunday, even if they were owned by Jєωs or other non-believers. Currently, the Church hierarchy would oppose all of these things today, so this would be difficult.

Speaking out against the true Catholic religion would be illegal and all books that oppose it would be destroyed. Publishing or spreading books that oppose the Catholic religion would be punished very harshly. The same goes for newspapers, and videos. Books and other speech that opposes the authority of the government or supports ideas like democracy and other revolutionary materials will destroyed and spreading them will be punished very harshly. The teaching of the theory of evolution or the idea that the earth is older than a few thousand years old will be illegal. Those who disobey this law and teach these false doctrines will be punished as heretics.

I don't know what to do about television. I would like to make it illegal, but this would be very hard to do and might cause revolution. Therefore I would have to allow television, though there would be strict censors. Anything immoral would be banned, as would anything opposing the kingdom. There would be fewer channels. Cable television would be allowed, but it would be illegal to have a satellite dish television because those channels cannot be controlled by the kingdom. All private satellite dishes would be destroyed. The radio stations would also be censored. Those who do immoral things on television or radio who get around the censors will be severely punished. The internet would be highly censored to keep out anything immoral or revolutionary. This would be hard as it would necessitate the blocking of most websites. I don't know how to deal with this. Many immoral and revolutionary radio and television stations would broadcast from outside the borders and I don't know how to deal with this, except, if they refuse to shut down, to invade the neighboring country. This would be difficult.

Heretics and apostates will be imprisoned and sometimes killed if they are obstinate in spreading their errors. If they do not try to spread their errors they will be allowed to live peacefully as non-citizens, apart from the Catholics, like the other unbelievers.

Since contraception would be illegal there would be many children so there would be no need for large amounts of immigration. Immigration would be allowed on a small scale, but only Catholics would be allowed to immigrate.

The lack of contraception would lead to large families where the mother would stay at home and women who do so would be lauded. Large families would be encouraged. Divorce would be illegal, even to non-Catholics. Many of the numerous children would enter the army to serve the kingdom in its defense as well as its efforts to spread the faith abroad in foreign wars. Others would be encouraged to become priests in large numbers. Priests would be treated well by the kingdom and supported at home and in the missions.

People would be punished in my kingdom in several ways. For the smallest crimes they will be fined. For greater crimes or repeated offenses, criminals will be flogged. Major crimes will be punished by prison terms, exile, or death. The prisons would have a lot of people in them for political or religious reasons. There may be some prison camps like the Russians had in Siberia where the inmates could do useful work. Many violent crimes like murder and rape would be punished by death. Or course the criminals would be given the opportunity to repent and a priest would be nearby. Non-Catholic prisoners would not be given non-Catholic priests to talk to before they die as that would be useless. They will be encouraged to confess to a Catholic priest and if necessary be baptized before the execution. Serious political crimes like treason will also be punished by death, as well as the worst obstinate heretics.

This is a start. I think the person who asked me to come up with this would be horrified. I know this will not happen soon, and if it ever did,  this country would be ganged up on by all the evil countries and destroyed, possibly with nuclear weapons. If you have any other ideas on the laws there should be in a good Catholic country, let me know. Thanks.

    Matt.

  • Get out of here, Augustine.
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

  • Did you think I was the person who goes by the name "Pope Augustine"? I am not he. I do not claim to be the true pope in exile, nor do I claim to be the true great monarch of catholic prophecy in exile. I am just a regular guy.

I am serious, though. I do believe, like Padre Pio, that it is a sin for a woman to wear pants (often even a mortal sin) and if I had the authority to do so I would make it illegal. I believe it is the duty of the king to protect both the bodies and the souls of his subjects and I believe that banning women's pants is a necessary protection of the souls of the women who would otherwise be tempted to this sin because of prevailing fashions. I know very few people agree with me when I say this and that it is about as hard to convince someone of my position as it is to get a Jєω to convert to the true faith. I'm sorry if you disagree, Raoul, but don't worry, I won't excommunicate you like "Pope Augustine" would.

  • Couldn't you forbid the manufacture of television and maybe cause a number of accidents to happen to the existing ones?  Pay no mind to Raoul, he's in a bad mood today.  Maybe they had another earthquake.

  • Don't we all dream of a better world?

You would have to expand your dress code to ban all floozywear.

Taxation works best to get rid of unwanted things.  It beats jailing, etc.

Or using an IP cloaking website?

This.  I am not much with computers but he is appearing under all sorts of different names.  The other day he was back as Pope Augustine.  He is monkofspain also.

It's also possible there is more than one person involved in whatever game it is "he" thinks he's playing.  Sort of like serial killers sometimes breed copycats.

  • Hi, Matthew. No, I am not affiliated with any of our gloriously reigning antipopes. Neither Pope Augustine, Pope Michael, Pope Linus II, nor any of the others, although I like reading about them. I do sometimes think about how different life would be under a good king which is the reason for my post, and I don't know of any better place on the internet to talk about such things. I know my ideas are a bit strange. I hope I am not causing any trouble on my first day posting here.

Yet you talk just like him with the awkwardly formal style ( "I am not he" ) and you want to dish out exaggerated punishments to people in a Catholic kingdom:  ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖs skinned alive, women who wear pants "flogged," etc.  Same jokey use of old-fashioned, formal language... Who else but you would say that someone should be "flogged"?  I know you're trying to be more subtle in your new guise as a concerned layman, but you have more work to do.

You are so innocent and sweet for someone who posts explicit pictures of naked women!  I can practically see you batting your big eyelashes.

  • Raoul, did "Pope Augustine" post pictures of naked women? No wonder you are concerned. But you are accusing me of the crimes of another.

I do think many minor crimes should be punished by flogging. I agree with "Pope Augustine" that sodomy should be illegal and yes, it should be punished, but I am not sure what the appropriate punishment whould be. Do you know what were the punishments for sodomy in good kingdoms like France, Sicily and the Holy Roman Empire, or even the Papal States, before these kingdoms were conquered by the revolution?

  • What about deceit, maybe flogging for that would be the attraction of the day.
