  • congrats. It is truly a wonderful beautiful sacrament. Being traditional you probably wont have the problem of spending more time and effort on the wedding than on the marriage. :read-paper:

I had a traditional mass then an untraditional belly dancer :confused1: which I now regret and I had traditional music (country western polka) but then  also had rock n roll secular stuff which I also regret

Looking back I wouldnt have invited 300people I would of invited immediate family and immediate friends and kept it less stress low key and have money for home, vehical , debts etc

I also would recomend not taking a honeymoon right away. Believe me u need it 6 months down the road more. Honestly it takes time to get use to each other.

Now Im not sure if it was a Jєωιѕн Custom but I read somewhere that in some cultures the bride n groom would spend the first few days just visiting relatives and eating and socializing. I thought that was neat. It gave it a more comfortable feel to the whole marriage idea and kept it family orientated. It also gave a chance for friends n relatives to get to know the new couple.

I did all my fighting before I got married but I did have a few in the begining. So thats one aspect of marriage that can be hard to get through. Being trad  I hope u both believe in DEATH do u part. That nice person your married too can sometimes have a bad day its called being human. Thats why Id save the honeymoon for when you both will really appreciate it. Right now anywhere is a vacation cause your probably both excited and in love

    Food for thought
    Your friendly canadian

  • LordPhan- Congratulations! :dancing-banana:

May you and your betrothed offer yourselves to Our Lady so that she can guide you and your future family to Everlasting Happiness in our Lord Christ.

I would say the best advice I could give, is to take the advice of your own parents. Our parents never want harm from us, and if they're also Catholic, should serve as the best practical and spiritual guides, outside the confessional.

Do you have a plan on the date?

  • This isn't like you, LordPhan. Anyone doubt me, go search his old posts.

Why post this for all to see?

I think you know how Traditional Catholic weddings go and what to do...you aren't a dumb guy. I just don't like being a pawn... I think you are posting this to prove something.

Now let's wish the best for LordPhan.  He's making a momentous decision.  Hopefully he's found a wonderful girl, who will keep her promise to marry.

SSPX girls have been known to get cold feet.

  • Thanks you those well wishers that this thread was intended for. I appreciate the advice, we are trying to keep costs down as some have suggested. We being attentive to the words of the good Bishop Williamson, heed his words that any money spent on getting married is money one does not have FOR the marriage.

S2srea: I must be careful when taking advice from my parents, while hers are Traditional, mine are not. Mine are being supportive and helpful however. I only hope that they get something out of the Nuptial Mass that can lead to their conversion. Since it will be the only Traditional Mass they have ever seen. We are of course going to have a High Mass.

    Thanks for the advice.

  • My husband and I celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary last Summer; so just remember the first 50 years are the hardest, after that it's a breeze.
    Please pray for my soul.

We hope to be Married on the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lady on September 8th.

Any Helpful advice on Traditional Weddings would be welcome.

    Congratulations!

What a wonderful day for contracting Holy Matrimony! Pray to Our Lady that, just as the beginning of our Redemption was signaled with her wondrous and felicitous nativity, you and your future wife may begin your path to sanctification and salvation together in the sacred endeavor to establish a Christian household, and bring forth and educate servants and handmaidens unto Our Lord.

Practical advice: start planning the announcements, invitations, etc. September may seem far now, but time is a curious little anomaly that suddenly comes upon you before you realize it.

For meditation and spiritual reading in preparation for Holy Matrimony, I recommend you read and study the Mass and the rites for this Sacrament found in the Roman Missal. You may also wish to consult how the Greek Church blesses marriage, for further spiritual reading:

Please ignore all that I have written regarding sedevacantism.
