I sure need a pep talk today. Last night, my mother who lives with us, came out and began to talk about movies. I mentioned the blasphemy of The Nativity and she launched into one of her tirades. She informed me that I was very much mistaken and that the Relevant Radio (Catholic) hosts were very happy. Next she hits with you are one of those people who does not believe most everyone will be saved. I said that was against Chruch DOGMA. She was yelling and screaming at me. She said she is going to get her local Novus Ordo priests to come tallk to me because my soul is in danger. All of the people at the Churches she attends,(she goes to several, to find her perfect place) say that those things are not true. She said the Father Benedict Goerschel and Father Mitch Pacwa of EWTN have mentioned many times that those are old ways of thinking and who the same ---- do I think I am questioning these "learned"men. I did not resort to the screaming and name calling as she did, but merely pointed out that No Salvation Outside the Church is Dogma and can not change. She should know better. She went to Catholic school including and all girls high school run by the Domincans. I asked her if she remembered those things in the Baltimore Cathechism. Nope, and besides we have a new cathechism she claims. She believes they got rid of Limbo and that I am evil for teaching all of those old things to my children.
Fact is, due to her education she should know better, but has chosen to live her life as the poster child for the Novus Ordo Baby Boomer. She is 64 and has made an absolute shambles of her life. Out of 7 brothers and sisters, only me, one brother who is fast loosing patience and one sister in Michigan ever even speak to her. The other four have had there fill. Out of 7 children 5 have left the Church. She left the Church in 1960, after dropping out of high school and running away with her first husband. while everyone else was at graduation, she was 5 months pregnant with me. Vatican II gave her the excuse she needed and she returned to the Church somewhat in the early eighties. Guess what? She soon learned that VII had gotten rid of the guilt. She no longer has to feel sorry for any of the lives she has ruined. Now she is about as NO as they come. She is a member of the Catholic Charismatics, goes from one town to the next each week trying to find her place where she feels good. As you can tell we are about as opposite as can be. I don't normally get into things with her, but she was speaking such nonsense about the Church and its teachings and my older two where right there. The way I see it today is that she has heard the thruth and if she continues it is God's problem not mine. Except when she spouts the latest heresy she heard "Father" Benedict Goerschel teach in front of my children.
Pray for me and thanks for listening. Dawn
