I just crippled the "guest" permissions quite a bit.
Far fewer "recent posts" on the homepage
Only 5 Posts displayed per page, when viewing a Topic
Only 10 Topics displayed per page, when viewing a Board (Sub-forum)
No Avatars visible, no signatures
A real bare-bones experience; fewer graphics
No "Print" function to make print-friendly version of Topics
Guests can't Search (this was true before)
CathInfo is free. Even if you sign up with a completely anonymous e-mail address and name, and share NOTHING about yourself, you are still LIGHT YEARS AHEAD of the thousands of BOTS that visit CathInfo every day. I have to be mean to the bots.
When you browse as a Guest (not logged in) there is no way I can distinguish you from the average Chinese bot. It's near-impossible.
Don't blend in with the bots, and you'll be fine.
Go sign up for a free account, and log in. CathInfo is a much more pleasant experience when you do.
As I said in another post --
Getting a CathInfo account is as easy as pie.* No money (it's free!)* Pick any username. Can be completely anonymous -- just pick a name.* Only bit of information required: you must give your true sex, male or female. Don't worry, I probably won't be able to identify you based on this!
* No personal information required (real name, address, state, nevermind anything more sensitive)* You are not asked for information about your location, position on the Crisis, chapel, etc.And then you can read all the juicy topics in Members Only that large ALPHABETICAL corporations have a problem with. Especially those beginning with a capital G.You also get access to the Mens Only or the Womens Only subforum. With these easy conditions, with this low barrier to entry, you'd be stupid not to sign up for a free CathInfo account.
