It turns out Obama's real last name, "Sotero," is a variant of my last name, "de la Sota."  "Soto" is also the same root from which the surname of Sonia Sotomayor is taken.

My name means "of the grove."  Obama's name just means "grove."  The "grove" in the Old Testament is where witchcraft was practiced.  This also fits in with "Bohemian Grove."  I have always assumed my name meant "Michael, who lived when the Earth became one giant witchy grove."

I wonder if I am actually related by blood to Obama.  Most unpleasant thought.  Bet you didn't know your president was a Castilian, did you?  He ain't no Isabella, that's for sure.

Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

"Family Crests" are a scam for Americans.  There is no such thing as a "Family crest" - but Americans who feel a desire to connect to their European past suck them up like candy.

Wikipedia says this: "There is a widespread misconception, due in part to Victorian stationers' marketing of engraved letterheads, that a crest and a coat of arms belong to everyone with the same family name; but usage by persons not descended from the original grantee constitutes usurpation. Bogus "family crests" continue to be sold to the gullible by heraldic "bucket shops.""

An individual may have a crest for various reasons, but it belongs to him alone.

Most people outside of America are aware of this but you guys in the states fall for it hook line and sinker - hence the huge market for it.

  • Soetero is Obama's adoptive father, so you wouldn't be related by blood.

I am not sure if this applies to Scottish clans. I have a crest and a coat of arms  from my father´s side. I am also directly descended from German nobility on my mother´s side. But there the right to bear arms has been nullified. Any German aristocrat who married a commoner, or who practiced a trade, was excluded from the aristocracy, I believe.
    Am I right?

We are all related by blood, ultimately.

Good thing I dont have to worry about this since I already have the knowledge of my family's coat of arms and it's history, and the noble heritage (now lost to the materialistic generation) that goes with it. That doesn't make me a noble or rich though. I would have to kill a majority of my family in order to stand a small chance at a position in the gentry. But that dont mean I cant start my own house though.  :judge:

But just because somebody is a noble doesnt mean they are afraid to work and get their hands dirty. That just isnt the reality... at least here in the Southwest.
