  • She spoke to MHFM (my mistake for introducing her to them), and they're telling her she cannot wear makeup anymore, as well as watch any TV show that promotes sin. I try to tell her it's okay if she watches, but knows when to draw the line and not do as they do on the show (like How I Met Your Mother with the whole hookups approach, or on any show). I'd like to get her to watch Chuck or Arrested Development, as she can barely go out due to her stress.

What do you all think? She's doing a little better today, in contrast to the last few days.

  • Do you really think watching a show like that can please God?

Why don't you find some wholesome activities that are actually mentally healthy and virtuous?

    No make-up is good too.
    Sincerely,

    Shin

What is the problem if she stops wearing make-up and watching stupid TV shows? Are you more worried about it than she is?

Not watching TV just could open up a whole new world for her, if she is directed in the right path. So better not to give her wrong advice, which you are doing at present.

I doubt if you are the person to judge whether or not she is one who "knows when to draw the line". It's better for her to get rid of the TV, and start reading good books from which she can learn more about the Catholic Faith.

  • Why not ask the Holy Spirit to show you the best way that you can help this person.

  • Example of Mother Agnes:

“This devotion [consecration to Jesus, through Mary] makes the soul truly free by imbuing it with the liberty of the children of God. Since we lower ourselves willingly to a state of slavery out of love for Mary, our dear Mother, she out of gratitude opens wide our hearts enabling us to walk with giant strides in the way of God’s commandments. She delivers our souls from weariness, sadness and scruples. It was this devotion that our Lord taught to Mother Agnes de Langeac, a religious who died in the odour of sanctity, as a sure way of being freed from the severe suffering and confusion of mind which afflicted her. “Make yourself,” He said, “My Mother’s slave and wear her little chain.” She did so, and from that time onwards her troubles ceased.

God bless. Thanks be to our Blessed Mother!
