  • Been there, done that, got a T-shirt.

I was "suspended" for three days first, for being uncharitable of course.  Eventually I was banned.  In my case, the topic was going to Protestant worship services.  I wasn't even an "official" trad then.   :laugh1:

I think what earned me the official ban was actually asking if CA was really a Catholic forum..... :stare:

  • You know what the "coups de grâce" was for me?  Being silently "banned" from Rorate Caeli...they don't actually ban you...they just shun you.

  • I was banned because I constantly posted items like Why do Women not cover their heads?   Is the Man head of the Household ? ETC ETC with fully supported Apologetics.

This of course infuriated the feminists to no end.  They would bait me constantly and ultimately banned me for some obscure reason.

I exacted some measure of revenge however.

The same day , I had received the typical "Support Catholic Answers - we need your help" email.

I wrote them a Check for $ 2500.00  postdated it and then stopped payment on it the same day before they could cash it . It  cost me $ 35.00 from the Bank

Of course , when they wanted to know why I stopped payment - I told them , because you banned me from the forum and I emailed them copies telling them of my "outrageous treatment" LOL.

I got a letter back asking me to return.

I told them no thanks , not unles Karl Keating himself would make me a moderator of my own thread so as to avoid any such unpleasantries in the future.

Of course they wouldn't take the bait

To this day they have me on their solicitors email list asking me for donations and I send the same request for my own thread back each time - But I went in there and created another ID anyway , only because I was in ims with a couple people, although I haven't posted there in a few years.

I see no need. It is for all intents and purposes - a tightly controlled modernist propaganda site.

  • I was banned there, too. LOL. If you get banned there, it usually means you are speaking the truth. That place is a R-o-m-a-n  P-r-o-t-e-s-t-a-n-t wasteland fused with Zionism. They're basically protestants in communion with a heretical Rome.

They claim on their forum home page that "Membership is open to all, Catholic and non-Catholic alike, who seek the Truth with Charity," however, I was warned by individual forum members that I would be banned for my views on EENS, which are not "hard-core Feeneyite" and which are, I believe, wholly orthodox.  In any case, they banned me over a thread which I wrote in response to a post from Father Zuhlsdorf:

    http://wdtprs.com/blog/2012/03/quaeritur-seminary-monitors-seminarians-email-surfing-wherein-fr-z-administers-tough-love/

After reading Father Z's blog, I posted on the CAF's vocation section that such semainarians should use the Tor Browser to protect their privacy:

    https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser.html.en

Within a few hours, my post was deleted.  I complained to the moderators who told me that my post was "not appropriate."  (Uh, the software is both free and legal.)  I claimed that they were engaging in censorship and told them that their actions were "not American" and "not Catholic."  After that, they banned me.  I tried calling Karl Keating's office about it, but they did not return my phone call.

Well, there you go. All this time you've wasted not being "hard core Feeneyite"
(whatever that is supposed to be) and you could have been all along, and then
the banning would make sense! But now, you can be banned and feel depressed
because you tried to be "not a hard core Feeneyite" so as to keep you from
getting banned and it was a waste of time, since you got banned anyway.

    So forget it.

Don't waste your time. Become a "hard core Feeneyite" (whatever that is) and
    enjoy life for a change!!

  • Personally, I couldn't go to CA.  At this point in my life I can't deal with pushy novus ordos. I have a bad temper and Catholic Answers would be a huge occasion of sin for me. Funny thing is, I use to listen to Catholic Answers a lot back in my Novus Ordo days.  I would listen to the whole EWTN/Catholic Answers gang and for the most part thought they were all good apologists and evangelists.  Wow, I can't believe some of the stuff I've done.  I was even a Eucharistic Minister at one time.  I can barely stand to think back to those days.

No, I'm glad to be gone, believe me!  (In fact, I was planning a year-long break anyway, because I had said all that I felt that I needed to say.)  I do have my own blog (no big deal, of course, anyone can do that!) and I want to write a bit about this whole (albeit, minor) incident in my life, because I feel that CA is being a bit deceptive in what they are doing and I think that people, donors especially (whether past, current or future), should know what type of organization that they are giving their monies to.

Now, I do not, of course, believe that people should go on forums (such as this one) and be rude, overbearing, mean-spirited, profane, etc., but if a board advertises that "Membership is open to all, Catholic and non-Catholic alike, who seek the Truth with Charity," then how can one be charitable in denying individuals the chance to express their own points of view?!  If you don't want atheists on your board, then, great, say so!  But, say so up front and be honest about it!  Instead, the CAF board is over-moderated and aggressively so to the point where people are getting censored for their ideas and not how they present those ideas.  And, that's "fine and dandy," but if you are going to do that (and, Matthew, of course, does not), say so up front!  And, if you do not, be prepared to accept some private criticism from your board members who are pointing out to you the fact that you are not following your own rules.
