OH, what a good post!! I agree! My Great-great Uncle is (was) a priest of the Precious Blood Confraternity from Carthagenia, OH St. Charles Seminary in 1907. I wanted to know what was in his "noodle". Readings from Father Faber and Cardinal Manning and such is an eye opener!
Our son got into gambling, what a sadness and hurt!! He was so upset with himself, a trucker. He was told by Alcoholics Anonymous group that cure rate is lower than alcoholics which is maybe 15%. He went crazy thinking he would never rise above it. I had a very good talk with him. How the devils work and such. But he was crying for a cure.
I told him, I will tell you what I know that is true. The AA bring in all kinds of people and tell you to go to your god. Right? Yes, of that group how many are catholic? I would say the 15% are catholic, because they have the precious blood to save them. I told our son, do you understand what Mom is saying. Those other people have no precious blood, they have nothing, right?! You do, son. The Catholic Church, decades ago had groups that were for just this reason. Like addicts, those coming home after war, drinkers and such. This was before AA? So, son, these groups were told, frequent the sacraments, because the Precious Blood is in ALL the Sacraments. Fr. Faber says this in his book, The Precious Blood.
My son was relieved. As a trucker he was told by the AA that he would have to come to their meetings every Thurs. Well, truckers don't live like that. He was able to land a job, family owned and operated that refuses to work on Sunday. The Pay fairly and my son is so relaxed now. He has been cured(?) for 15 years so far.
Thank God that His precious Blood is still with us, but will pass one day, Chapter 12 of Daniel
