How would confession and or last rites work in quarantine

    • If you get quarantined/ are infected with the Chinese virus/coronavirus/wuhan virus/covid 19 or any contagious disease for that matter, how would confessions or last rites work?

    • Without a priest, you would just have to do the best you could, with an act of perfect contrition and reciting all of the prayers that one would say in such circuмstances, including all indulgenced prayers.

    If a priest were available, the most common phenomenon during this crisis seems to be allowing visitors in end-of-life situations.  I would not have a problem with a priest using a respirator.

    As Providence would have it, a few weeks ago, my son (13) absolutely, positively had to have a P95 respirator for some cosplay he was going to do.  He loves cosplay.  I found this request ridiculous, but he caught me in a good mood that day, so off to O'Reilly Auto Parts I went.  Even though I am not a priest and will not be visiting anyone in an end-of-life situation, far better to own a P95 respirator these days, than not to own one.

    I imagine the priest would be, or should be willing to be suited up with the same protective garb the doctors and nurses use if that's what it came to, so this issue is really not an issue to be concerned with.

    Pray daily for the grace of final perseverance and the grace of a happy death, and that God sends you and yours a good holy Roman Catholic priest to administer the Last Rites and blessings before you die, and that you receive them with the proper disposition so as to go straight to heaven and avoid purgatory when you die. We all should pray this faithfully every single solitary day of our life and God will certainly not fail to provide us with this greatest of all graces - no matter what the circuмstances are when our turn comes.
