How to find a Catholic wife

  • I’m 17 and going to be a senior in HS in September. Obviously I’m way to young to get married but since I’m going to college in a year and 98% of college girls are the stereotypical type (not Catholic wife material), how do you find the trad wife that all Catholic men seek? Is it easier to find a non trad wife and then convert her? I joined a traditional parish (sspv) in December and I haven’t met anyone there so are there any tips you’d give to socialize with trad women? Every girl I dated and am friend with are not religious so I feel like this is an impossible task.

  • My advice (perhaps only worth what it cost) is this:
    (1) Stop looking. Instead simply be aware. "Looking" imparts a desperation that, even if slight, can repel the right Catholic prospects.
    (2) Do good things that you enjoy, especially good activities that might also put you together with good prospects. Even if you do not meet a spouse you will still be doing good and enjoyable things.
    (3) Pray your daily Rosary, especially that you not fall under wicked influences in your collegiate and later life.
    (4) Make the Archangel St. Rafael one of your patrons.
    (5) Since your local chapel has no prospects so far, take many field trips to chapels near and far from home.

It is better to concentrate on your studies, earning and saving what you can and develop the virtues and a strong prayer life.

Pray to the Angel Raphael, St Joseph and St Anthony.

Don't date until you are close to the age when you intend, or would like to marry.

Get to know girls, but don't concentrate on any particular one. Observe, converse, compare.

Get yourself as many practical skills and knowledge in preparation for making a home and maintaining it.

Don't be defeated from the start, thinking you will convert a girl. If a girl admires you for your strong faith and virtue, well and good, but don't start out with that thought in mind. Go for Catholic.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

Trying to convert a non-Catholic modernist would almost definitely be futile, but it's probably much easier to find a reasonably pious NO girl and convert her to traditionalism than it is to find a trad, especially if you've had no luck at your parish. I'd try other Trad chapels first though, and you've a good few years before you'd want to be getting married anyway(or able to, for that matter).

  • Don't worry CIA, you can always find one in the Phillipines.

Just find a reputable Catholic wife broker and give them your specs.

"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

  • Except for Incred (no offense) I think all are good thoughts.

Keep in mind the most basic of questions...

    1) What is the purpose of dating?
    A:  To find a spouse.

2). When is the right time to find a spouse?
A: When you are mature enough spiritually, emotionally and financially to support a wife and family.

So at 17 your concern should not so much be with finding a spouse, but with getting your ducks in a row for when the proper time comes.

God gave us a big beautiful world.  Now is the time to learn, study, travel, and see all the wonders God has given us.

One of St. Don Bosco’s boys asked him, “Fr Bosco, what are we allowed to do in this world?”  His simple reply...”Anything but sin”.

My advice to you would be stay close to the Sacraments, the holy Rosary, and your scapular.  Learn, study, and suck every drop of the beautiful world that God has left for you and in His time, you will find the woman he wants you to be with...probably when and where you least expect it!
