The simple reality, since the election, is that legal abortion is more entrenched than ever.  So what is the purpose of this article?  Is it to make pro-lifers less angry?  To feed delusions that their tactics have been working?

I think so.  When the conciliar Popes are represented as conservatives "holding the line" it's the same mass delusion being cultivated.

Flattery is a deadly weapon against people who aren't serious.

  • Right now pro-life advocates feel secure in the belief that they'll be able to continue to voice opposition to abortion and remain within the national conversation. (which seems to be their main reason for being - to have Republican candidates pay them lip service)  Just as gun rights advocates, not long ago, felt that their gun rights were secure.  Just most Republicans believed that the electoral map would continue to favor them.

These have been deliberately cultivated mass delusions, which cause resistance to weaken its resolve.

I think one could make a comparison with the SSPX.  As the SSPX expanded, its adherents began to feel secure  - began to believe that somehow they were winning.  And the way in which the men like Bishop Fellay and Benedict XVI advance their agenda is to create a false impression of reality - the false impression that somehow the position of the SSPX is "winning."  That is a deliberately cultivated delusion.
