Mareena Silva, a pregnant woman, picked up her antibiotic prescription -- and was given an abortion drug by mistake!

Apparently the woman who was SUPPOSED TO get the abortion drug had a similar first AND last name!

I suppose this is going to be a problem in the future. With the entire white race aborting/contracepting itself into extinction, we're going to have more and more white people marrying hispanic and other nationalities and/or races.

I bet the pharmacist was white. I can just see him/her now: "Oh, it was one of those Mexican last names: Gonzalez, Gonsalves, Gomez or sup'm like that."

Let's face it -- to white folk who live mostly among white folk, asians, blacks, etc. DO all look very similar, more or less. Italian last names all sound alike. Heck, to people outside my family my first two kids look alike. The problem is that you only learn to distinguish subtle differences by being exposed to them a lot. That's also why most people can't distinguish certain intonations in Chinese -- unless they were born in China and learned Chinese very young.

They're going to need to start checking phone number, SS #, or drivers' license to make sure.

  • So, true.  My son was prescribed a medication at a dosage that was 100% above the maximum allowable FDA dosage, by his physicians at the U of I Hospitals and Clinics.  The pharmacy and their computers did not even catch the error!  Rather, the workers at his summer day program were the ones who caught the error!
