  • Monks take a vow of poverty. Whatever they get "paid" goes to the monastery.

  • Do traditional Catholic priests receive a weekly or monthly paycheck from the religious order they belong too?

Only if someone gives it to them and if they have permission to go to Red Lobster.

You can't assume that a traditional priest belongs to an order. Generally, priests get a payment from the diocese they are incardinated to. Monks would get spending money from the order they belong to and according to their needs.

  • can you ever stop being a monk in order to get married? what if a monk and a nun fell in love? what would happen?

Also, what if a person wishes to become a monk or a priest but has a lot of debt?

Why do you ask these questions?  You are not a monk that wishes to get married.  Are you considering becoming a monk, but want to make sure there is a "way out," so to speak?  If so, I would suggest that you reconsider.

Not gonna happen because they each stay in their own monasteries and dont see the opposite sex.

Anyone who wants to be a monk, a real monk, in a traditional monastery, wants to go there to get peace and purity. They go there to detox the mind from the world. Some people have no attachment to the world anymore. As a man who wants to be one, I say women can be forgotten, and all that remains is a love of the mass and the only thing you value is prayer. Some people give up everything they could have, to live a life of holiness. When or if I get into a monastery, I will hold out hope of being rewarded by God, but if He gives me His forgiveness, then I can ask for nothing more. I dont care about anything now, except this. God is the only thing that can animate me. I seek to overcome my habits of sin, and that is why I want to go to an oaisis of holiness. Though Catholics seem to be weird or unusual, and some men who are not withdrawn enough from the temptations of the world will find nuns alluring and would hope to corrupt them, a real man will honour the state of professional religious people, and if one has the faith they will not be tempted with this temptation. You speak of what if? In the novus ordo is false Catholics and it probably has happened many times, but how are they different to any other whore without the faith? The faith is what they are supposed to have in common, but in their unholy union they destroy the very thing that draws them to each other, and are left with nothing. In fact it is only lust. Call it what it is. There are many Catholic girls out there who believe in waiting for marriage, and these are virgins if that appeals to some men out there, but in any case, I dont have these thoughts about nuns, and I would be happy if i never saw a nun again, if i were to be a monk, i would only see God wherever I go, and I would nourish myself on an interior life and an interior hope. Gone are the days where I hope to influence the world or the church, from that time on, I work on making myself perfect.
This is what those who are called to orders are like. They do not lose their humanity, but they seek to conquer it, and become as robots without a computer virus.

These are reasons why I would consider becoming a monk. It seems like it would be easier to live a life of holiness, and stay away from sin. At the same time, I have always had this dream to get married. It would be awful hard to make that sacrifice to become a monk. But then again, sometimes I wonder if I am too weak to make it out here in this corrupt world.

Hiding from the world is not the way to achieve holiness.  One has to discern God's will for him and live that life to his best ability.  Just look at St. Benedict no matter how much he wanted to live as a hermit and be alone with God, it just was not meant to be.

When you keep yourself in the state of grace and avail of the sacraments worthily as frequently as possible, you will be able to overcome many sins you have.

At one point in time I was a college student and had my own apartment. I didn't know a single soul for 2 years, and had no job. I went to mass 1 time a week, and my relationship with God was strong. You can almost say that I was living the lifestyle of a monk only I was not in poverty. I was happy at this time in life even though I did not have anything to do other than read religious stuff and study for my classes. That was the happiest time in my life because of my relationship with the Lord. Sure it got boring at times, but I saw things more clearly than ever before. There was 1 sin that I could never completely shrug off however. That is masturbation. Ever since puberty I masturbated daily. Then I decided to try to get rid of it (when I found out it was a mortal sin). The best I could ever do was go 2 months without it, and this was during the 2 years that I was going to school and avoiding sin as much as possible

Then some stuff happened, and things went down hill. Now I have fallen back into my old ways (especially with smoking cigarettes on and off). When I smoke regularly I  can't see the Lord. Sometimes I think I would stay away from this stupid habit if I became a monk or a priest. It seems there are more graces in living this lifestyle that would help me to avoid sin (both smoking and masturbation).

Then I start thinking about how really nothing in this world matters other than staying in Grace and focusing on the Lord. All these other things i.e. prospect of marriage are good things but not necessary. They can actually be a distraction if not practiced properly and you are with the wrong person. Even if I were with the right person, Satan is always after me one way or another. I am not sure if I can withstand anymore beatings. If I did get married I would need to be strong in Faith for my family. Right now I am not so sure I can do that. It seems there are a lot of different factors playing against me.

I worry that ever since things have been going down hill for me, that I have been becoming wicked. I sure haven't seen the Lord nearly as much in my life. Maybe becoming a monk is the answer.
