It is amazing how many husbands leave their wives and children behind when their group gets chased by Border Patrol. The hardest thing to see is finding small children that were left behind. One day we found a six year old boy wandering through the desert because he became separated from his mom the night before. If was cannot find the parents the children are returned to Mexico and will end up in an orphanage. This kind of thing happens almost every day.

Most of the maids you hire here in California came here illegally. We've had many maids work for us and alot of them left their children behind inorder to come to the United States. The maids we had hadn't seen their children in 10 years or more. Basically, they chose to never see their children again inorder to send money to Mexicao to support their children and their parents. If I had children, I would rather be poor then never see my children again.

  • Fortunately, most of us are not placed in this horrible position.
My mother was forced to leave her country of birth for fear of death and had to endure extreme poverty as an adolescent refugee. Her sister´s family nearly died in a communist cσncєnтrαтισn cαмρ of starvation and disease. Fortunately, they survived and managed to get to the USA with nothing and  where they had another terrible struggle to build up a living. My cousin´s family escaped from the same communist country because her husband was under threat of death, swimming the river with two babies in a basket and terrified in case they should cry and give them away. Just like the poor Mexicans you described. I always have sympathy for poor refugees. I have known poor Filipino women and men who worked with me in the hospital in London who were unable to give their children enough food and a good education and had to leave their own country. This was a cause of great sorrow and guilt for them.
I believe as Christians we are not just responsible for the welfare of people on our own little patch of the Earth, not even putting ourselves or our own families first.
It is totally immoral to keep vast surplus resources - money or goods -  and tracts of land for our own exclusive use when others are starving or lacking in basic comforts. It is also un-Christian to create shortages, practice usury and profit unfairly from other people´s labour.
NO, I am no kind of communist or socialist, but neither am I in favour of capitalism!
    I am a Distributist.

  • Penn & Teller, whom I do not advocate, have an episode on this.  Their point is that it is fairly easy to get across the US/Mexican border.  Some 10% of the population of Mexico now resides in the United States.

Good to meet a fellow Distrib!!!

I sympatheize greatly with illegals yes-John Medialle was right when he told me anyone one of use starving, oppresed would do the same as they, but we are going downhill even faster with them here (more benefits doled out, lowering of wages, lowering of standards).Harder for Distributist society as the costs are mounting....also causing societal conflict, esp by pressure groups.......I nation has right to enforce immigration laws, heck Mexico is stringent on their southern borders with Centra/South Americans sneaking into their country.same in Europe....

  • Thanks for your reply.
I agree that it is not an easy issue.
There are all sorts of considerations. Like who is in real need and who comes just for reasons of greed.

That´s why I found the distinction between the real poor and drug dealers good.

Why have heaps of swanky Russians in Berlin, many are maybe freeloaders and criminals, but........I can´t say......can´t judge

And how do vast numbers of Moslems, who come to "better themselves" affect the local culture? Do they erode the Faith? Consumerism does that far better!

But I find the whole basis of this society totally false anyway.

Sometimes it is not good to have too much anyway, but to live as simply as possible

I don´t think that the collapse of the church in such places as Ireland JUST has to do with the collapse of Catholic authority and the scandals (which are blamed for the decline ) I also think it has a lot to do with a flood of EEC money and what they call "a rise in the standard of living"

There is really plenty of money but it is not equitably distributed and has become a pagan GOD. And people are made dependent on state handouts and not given the opportunity to do meaningful work for themselves. Just to buy a load of unneccessary trash and do "soul-destroying" jobs.
