    Incidentally, it's pronounced "pwotsk", not "plock" to rhyme with "lock".  Not readily apparent if you don't know Polish orthography.

    My son is Polish, I have been to Poland several times, and I studied the language for two years along with in-country immersion.  Still can't speak it worth a dang.

    Vatican II didn't happen overnight. There were liturgical changes happening slowly across Europe as early as the '20s. There were places experimenting here, too. It's a slow gradual until the 60s, VCR.

    There isn't really a difference at all. You just asked was Poland following the rest of the West, which is a very different question to "are this boy's actions commendable?". Of course the answer to the latter is a yes, but he isn't the embodiment of Poland. He was facing off against a whole army of sodomites, how are they any less representative of where Poland's headed than he?
