  • Holy week in Seville, Spain begins. This incredible seven days of medieval splendor and devotion is not well-known, even in the Catholic world. See the  incredible, 1800 lb floats carried by members of various confraternities. All of the statuary is life size, and go back as least as far as the Baroque era, if not older. These are some photos of the events. Some processions through the streets take 15 hours, and all Christian businesses are closed. The week-long celebrations and solemnities began as acts of contrition, acknowledging that the Roman soldier who scourged Christ was a Spaniard. This, the power of the Faith in the Middle Ages. Each of the medieval confraternities (brotherhoods) usually have two floats; one shows events in Our Lord's life. The second, an image of the Blessed Mother, often depicted as weeping. These weeping Madonnas are known as "macarenas".

If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • Beautiful!
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

  • Either way, enjoy it while you can.
now the Jєωs are back, there's going to be all manner of whining and whingeing and it'll be relegated to a thing that used to happen before, back when people's civil rights were openly violated by the display of Christianity.
    Matthew 6:34
" Be not therefore solicitous for to morrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof."

  • It is a shame that such displays of Catholicism are marred by Novus Ordo "Masses."

Please pray for the repose of my soul.
