  • WTH? Uh- impossible. Once a priest, always a priest. Holy Orders, like Baptism and Confirmation, leave an indelible mark on the soul which cant be removed.

  • And a priest, doesn't become a priest overnight. He has many years to make sure he will be married to no one but the Church and his breviary.

  • That is why they tell those who are not certain of their vocation to join the seminary, then if you feel it isn't God's Will for you to be a priest, leave before you are ordained. That's the way Matthew did it. That is, afterall, something that is to be discerned BEFORE one becomes a priest, not after.

A priest who wants to get married is basically cheating on the Church so to speak, because the Church is their bride.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • A priest can be laicized and marry in the church if his is dispensed from his vows.  He can never stop BEING a priest, though.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir
