Apparently this year there is this really effective paranormal pencil game thing which nearly always works when done properly. Which is why it is becoming so popular among people who do it for the thrills. The "Charlie Charlie Challenge" ritual has gone viral on the internet as a result and was created by occultists. However it can be dangerous, people doing it who have had things go wrong have often found scratch marks and etc on them mysteriously and had many scary experiences.

The "Charlie Charlie Challenge" is going viral on the internet and is centred around specific types of demons, stories from even some of the most skeptic atheists have had horrific experiences that shaked their belief in atheism.

An article on it for educational purposes, I do not endorse anyone to do this ritual but this is just to warn/inform: http://theracketreport.com/the-charlie-charlie-challenge-a-dangerous-new-game-that-conjures-up-the-devil/

Authorities believe that the occult is harmless because there is "no proof" and will not ban or take any action against it. No matter how bad it gets. The exploiting of occultism/witchcraft is even starting to seep into the mainstream slowly it seems, especially due to the fact that to many its something you can get away with or is a loophole to do something bad with.

You sure it's real? I thought it was just something stupid kids did for stupid thrills.

Parents probably thought the same thing about the slender man until those 2 girls stabbed their friend over a  fictional character.

Except Slenderman still 'is' a fictional character.

Well some people have reported horrific experiences after playing it. Including finding scratch marks on their own bodies. It can be compared to the ouijia board I guess which was also intended to be a "game" where people have had demonic experiences.

A Vatican exorcist even demanded that people stopped doing it: http://www.christiantoday.com/article/summoning.the.demons.playing.charlie.charlie.game.poses.real.danger.warns.vatican.exorcist/54831.htm

Well every "god" in every pagan pantheon is "fictional," as well.

    However...

What then? Do I say, that what is offered in sacrifice to idols, is any thing? Or, that the idol is any thing? But the things which the heathens sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God. And I would not that you should be made partakers with devils.

No, I mean he literally is a fictional character. He was invented as a character for a scary story that some guy wrote and posted on the internet.

However, I guess it boils down to the fact that, if you do something with the intention of summoning demons, even if the ritual is just something some stupid kids made up, you run the risk of it actually attracting the attention of demons.

Minus the "internet" part, the above probably pretty accurately describes the creation of every Pagan deity in every heathen pantheon under the sun. All that separates the creation of Slenderman from the creation of Crom Cruach, or Pazuzu, or Baal is the medium of transmission and a few millennia. The intention is essentially the same.

I think your assessment here is correct. Man's fallen nature is today just what it was 100, 1000, or 3000 years ago. The inclination to idolatry is inevitable in persons - and cultures - which live apart from Almighty God's grace. And the demons certainly won't pass up opportunities to receive idolatrous adoration and lead souls into hell simply because they come in such prosaically modern forms as store-bought Ouija Boards and Tarot Cards or a "viral" internet "meme."
