  • What would you say about a priest or bishop who posted on CathInfo, but didn't let anyone know they were in Holy Orders? (Category A)

Further, what if that person went out of his way to stay anonymous, creating a generic e-mail address, not even letting the moderator know by having a "priestly" e-mail address, personal messaging him, etc. (Category B)

Even further, what if that person was also "rough around the edges" and/or misbehaved to the point that he got himself banned from CathInfo?  (Category C)
And you gotta admit -- I allow a lot of arguing, fighting, and emotional spillover on CathInfo. I don't ban for every little thing. To get banned, you have to be seriously misbehaved or have such far-out beliefs that you don't belong (or won't be able to peacefully coexist) on a Traditional Catholic forum.

Long story short, I have been told that Category C just occurred, and the person in question is griping to everyone who will listen about being banned from CathInfo.

It really makes me wonder how a PRIEST could get himself banned from my forum, given the very wide net I cast!

UPDATE: I should point out: "Category C" didn't actually happen -- Fr. Kramer assumed he was banned, but he actually wasn't banned. Apparently Fr. Kramer is in Category A. Not announcing it publicly, but his e-mail address (visible to the moderator) and his screen name give hints and/or spell it out.

  • Well, fallen human nature being what it is, it's not so surprising that there are ornery priests out there (even traditional ones).
"It is licit to resist a Sovereign Pontiff who is trying to destroy the Church. I say it is licit to resist him in not following his orders and in preventing the execution of his will. It is not licit to Judge him, to punish him, or to depose him, for these are acts proper to a superior."

  • It's OK as long as it wasn't Pope Michael, I suppose.

  • Seeing the additional info, I can't say that I blame Fr. Kramer for being upset that he was banned, since he presumably did get a notice that he was banned, even though you didn't actually ban him. He didn't know that though. He assumed that he really was banned.

But he did over-react. That's not surprising for a trad.  :)

  • Fr. Kramer's screen name is Don Paolo

Now that you have explained that he wasn't really banned, maybe Fr. Kramer/Don Paolo will retract what he has said. I hope that he would do so.

  • Fr. Kramer did not go out of his way to conceal his identity. He published it wide open on Facebook and has been posting links to Facebook from Cath Info literally for years, especially back when he was getting into it with Feenyites.(Drew and Cantarella) He would frequently cite his same arguments on Facebook and name his opposition. Since most of his social media gathers on Facebook, it could be assumed that if you know Fr. Kramer, you know who he is on Cath info. I don’t think he should have to come out and make a special thread announcing himself on Cath Info. Don Paolo is the Italian way of greeting a priestt who’s first name is Paul. There is nothing even concealing in his screen name. It is obviously what many people close to him call him. In light of this, all his complaints seem reasonable.
We conclude logically that religion can give an efficacious and truly realistic answer to the great modern problems only if it is a religion that is profoundly lived, not simply a superficial and cheap religion made up of some vocal prayers and some ceremonies...

When I wrote the OP, I didn't even know his screen name. Let's put it this way: he insisted he was banned, but I do not remember banning Fr. Kramer. So I wanted to bring up the topic of "hidden priests on message boards".

  • Priests and bishops who post on forums without clearly identifying themselves deserve the same respect as every other member on a forum.  They have no more or less authority on the forum as any other member of the forum.

They should not expect any special defference or even consideration.  If they post stupid comments like, for example, poche, they should expect and deserve ridicule.  If they post intelligently, they should expect idiotic replies just as everyone else receives.  And they shouldn't complain about a forum not treating them like a priest or a bishop.

Priests and bishops who wish to be treated like priests and bishops should identify themselves by name.

  • I know several priests on Facebook often. SAJM resistance priest, CMRI priests, pretty much all across the board. The only priests not on Facebook are SSPX.
