However, this embrace of traditionalism has kind of put my vocation as a priest in peril.

Hello Alex,

In the "good old days" of the SSPX, anyone considering a vocation to the priesthood (or convent) would be encouraged to go on retreat.  There, they could talk to other good priests (in addition to their own pastor at their chapel) who could give them them good advice and contacts with traditional seminaries and monasteries.

Bishop Williamson is a very good bishop who used to teach at some of the SSPX seminaries.  He is very good at discerning vocations and giving advice for those who are considering a vocation.  He also has great contacts with some of the traditional seminaries and monasteries throughout the world.

Perhaps you might want to contact him?

You should be able to contact Bishop Williamson through his website at:
   info@dinoscopus.org

(You can also sign up for his weekly newsletter on his website at dinoscopus.org.)

God bless you and Mother Mary Keep You in Her Prayers.

It will be a Sung Mass with benediction for the feast of Christ the King.

Oh dear. I don't know any of the parts to a Sung Mass. Are there any resources you can point me towards so that I can learn what the responses are, or what I am supposed to sing?

Hey Alex. Our chapel is really a mixed bag. We have some younger families, some older families, some older folks....great group of people all around. I'm sure you will be most welcomed. Our pastor is Father Dominique Bourmaud. His sermons are rich in doctrine since he follows the Council of Trent's sermon program for the year. You will learn the Faith for sure.

As far as the sung mass.....just relax, watch and try to do what everybody else is doing...  :incense:

P.S just wear your best. No one is going to turn you away at the door if you aren't dressed to the nines.

Don't worry about that.  That will come in time.  Welcome to the forum.

Surely they had at least pacman back then, right????? How can you have a world without video games!?

I don't have very many video games since I"m trying to overcome my addiction to them  :tv-disturbed: . But I do have Civilization IV and Halo. I've been thinking of getting skyrim for the PC since I've played it on the xbox and thought it was great; the art in that game is untouchable. I might also have Star Wars Battlefront II somewhere, and the first one as well.

I hate the cute LOL net-speak, but this actually did make me laugh out loud.

He may not be a SSPX bishop by the time he reads the email though.
