  • Hello
My name is Dan and I'm fourteen years old. I plan on entering the FSSP seminary in Nebraska upon graduating high school. I want to make it clear, that although I consider myself a traditional Catholic, I a FSSP - not SSPX. I hope you guys don't hate me for that!! I look forward to meeting you in the forums!! I have a longer story, but I'll eventually get around to telling it.

  • Dear Sweet Child, I would never hate you. What a great grace from God you have to know your direction in life. May Mary keep you safely under her mantle.

    God Bless,
    Dawn

  • Thank you.

So, I was wondering, are most of the members here SSPX or sedavancanist (don't know if I misspelled that). Are there any FSSP? I apologise, but the feeling I got from the SSPX website was that they hated the FSSP.

  • The quote in your sig is very appropriate for describing the FSSP.

"Not to oppose error is to approve it..."

  • Welcome to CathInfo, Dan!

No, the SSPX doesn't "hate" the FSSP. They are only working for the triumph of the Catholic Church, and the universal kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ. To hate anyone would be counterproductive to that goal.

You're especially welcome here, because we need some balance with so many sede's on here.

There ARE some non-sede members, but perhaps they are busier these days? Also some of them don't like arguing with the sedes.

At any rate, if you stay out of the "Crisis in the Church" forum you should be ok -- that is the only place on here where it's permitted to discuss the pope, the problems in the Church, etc.

I give people a decent amount of freedom on here, but I do have a few rules.

Again, welcome to the forum --

    Matthew

  • Pessimist --

It is not appropriate to dig into someone in a welcome thread!

If you want to debate the merits/demerits of the FSSP, go ahead and start a thread in the "Crisis in the Church" forum.

Heated discussion/criticism of various traditional groups is ONLY allowed there. Anywhere else, and it will be moved/moderated or deleted.

This forum has to keep a certain degree of order.

  • I find it is best to lead by example. And, sometimes I get angry when people do not see my side. However, using kinds words will atleast get the people to hear your message. And, since I think it is fair to say that all of us want everyone to convert to the True Church we should point that out in a gentle fashion. Please let us not run this young man out of here.

These rules should be sticked then. Just a suggestion.

  • Thank you all for the warm welcome.

I agree with Pessimist though, Vatican II did sugar coat the truth......... to an extent.

I will meet you all in the forums then.

oh, for the record, someone asked what the FSSP was. The FSSP is short for Fraternitas Sacerdotalis Sancti Petri, a fraterity canonically established by Pope John Paul the Great* in 1988 (not sure if that is the exact date)

*or anti-pope depending on your opinion.
