  • So I'm considering getting a copy of the Haydock Bible to use as my main study Bible. I'm just wondering if anyone owns a copy of (or is familiar with) either the hardcover, one-volume reprint edition or the softcover, two-volume reprint edition, or both. If so, which edition would you recommend? I'm concerned particularly about the opacity of the text (is the paper too thin? How is the bleed-through?), and the quality of the photographic reproduction (smudging, white where text should be, etc.). Thanks!

  • I own this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003C268XG/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B003C268XG&linkCode=as2&tag=httpwwwchanco-20

It is excellent quality - I have given it to a number of people as gifts.  I strongly recommend it.  I have attached a photo I just took to show you how thin the paper is (and how opaque it is).

  • Thank you, Jamie, for your recommendation, and for the uploaded photo. I can see that the opacity is actually quite good, considering how thin the paper has to be. I'm especially surprised to see how sharp the reproduction is; I don't think the sample on the Catholic Treasures website does a very good job of showing this.

I believe this puts all of my worries to rest. I hope to soon acquire this volume and reap all the spiritual fruits thereof. Thanks!!

  • I have the one volume hardcover and love it.
