  • I keep getting redirected from CI to ad sites.  I know there are problems with this computer, but I wonder if anyone else has had the same thing happen.
What return shall I make to the Lord for all the things that He hath given unto me?

  • That's odd. Not me.  Are you accidentally clicking on them?

  • If you're getting auto-directed anywhere, it's not from some professional ads on a professional website.

You must have some kind of malware on your PC. You normally can't get malware from just browsing the Web (visiting various non-porn websites w/ typical banner ads)

Are you by any chance using Windows XP after its April 15, 2014 end-of-life date and/or Internet Explorer?

  • Maria, you probably bought from Amazon without using Matthew's link?  :laugh1:

I believe she is using Devian, so I would believe no needeth for Kaspersky. (Although I do concur with soulguard, and I've seen it be the most effective over the past few years for Windows users)

  • It's my father's computer.  He uses windows 8.1 (?) and he's still loyal to IE, and Norton, regardless of my efforts to convert him.  When I get a chance I'll have a go at the advice I got in that other thread I started last week:

    http://www.cathinfo.com/catholic.php/Free-virus-removal

I'm not accidentally clicking on the ads, 2Vermont.  I've done that before, but this is different!

I thanketh thee, soulguard.  Thou didst valiantly come to my rescue.  I'm sure the trojan shaketh in his boots at the very thought of your keen eye watching over me.  Perhaps he'll go on his way once he sees for himself what thou art made of.  :boxer:

I've never bought from amazon without using Matthew's link!

Is Kapersky free and easy to use?  Can I keep Norton?  My father will not allow me to remove Norton.  He just paid for a whole year not too long ago.

My father has said that he's downloaded things that promised the moon plus free security, only to realize it was an attempt at a sale, at which point he refused.  Could that be how he got the virus?

I wouldn't download anything that's free without a recommendation from someone who has used it.

...preferably along with a link to make sure you're not getting tricked into downloading something other than what you were looking for.

Thanks.  I clicked on the first link and there seems to be an ad on the page.  I guess the link to click is the one below it, that says 'download now @ author's site' in blue and white?
