A Snapshot of the Final Battle for Jerusalem

(Translated from the French website defensa.org by brotherfrancis75)

Notes on the Case of the Internal Dissolution of Israel

Israel is not a country like the others.  Yet it seems as if, increasingly, it were; it seems even to be leading the charge to show that it is "a country like the others," even more than the others, well ahead of them in the race for dissolution that affects them all.  (Speaking of "the other," certainly we speak of the N.A.T.O. powers, their disorder, their confusion, and about the uncontrollable and insane nature of their politics guided by their narrative against the truth of the world.)

By that we mean - "like other countries," - that we were accustomed to Israel as a country where security concerns, up to messianic and prophetic outbursts, were foremost and mobilized a population and its leadership always around some single burning perspective.  This constant observation that is now a cliché, if not the backbone, in every variety of "images of Jerusalem."  Today Israel is completely consumed, eaten up, devoured by these internal destructuring and dissolving dynamics.  That there is a crisis at their doorstep the size of Syria, and another in their heads of the potential intensity of the Iranian - none of that matters because the internal process now takes precedence over the rest, fed by the follies of their external narrative.

Today Israel is torn apart by itself, by its internal quarrels, by its internal disorder.  This strategic vanguard of the Pentagon (the N.A.T.O. Bloc) is becoming the archetypal model for the collapsing N.A.T.O. Alliance.  All areas of the political and social life of the country are affected, whether politicians, populace and popular protest movements, the political leadership whose authority is questioned directly, in the midst of the full Syrian crisis, by the Chief of their General Staff.

EVOLUTION AND CONVOLUTIONS OF A POLITICIAN

Shaul Mofaz, new head of the Israeli Kadima Party for the past few months, is not afraid of anything.  He took charge of the party in March 2012, after internal political maneuvers that resembled a coup d'Etat to get rid of Tzipi Livni, as well as denounce Netanyahu's plans to attack Iran, arguing that the essential was Israel's domestic crisis.

Therefore and logically, he joined forces with Netanyahu (see the article for May 8, 2012), entering his government to create a  grand coalition team.  Mofaz himself, one suspects, proposed that there was nothing more serious than the Iranian threat against Israel and he was preparing his own surprise attack.

This has been A BIG WEEK, Mofaz taking Kadima with him under his arm, slamming the door that he had opened only two months earlier and leaving the government.  He then discovers that the attack against Iran, but also against Syria that Netanyahu has suggested, are unacceptable, dangerous and useless things, that threaten the destiny of Israel's women and children…  The argument is unanswerable.

MOFAZ AGAINST THE "MILITARY ADVENTURES"  (IRAN, SYRIA)

One can imagine that PressTV.com, the Iranian website, soon gloated, this July 24, 2012, about the exposure to the bright light of day of these divisions on the Israeli side.

«“Kadima will not embark on any operational adventures that will risk the future of our sons and daughters, and the future of Israel's citizens,” Mofaz said in a news conference on Monday. The remark comes as the Israeli regime has stepped up its war rhetoric against Syria. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said earlier that Tel Aviv will “have to act” to prevent what he called a possible transfer of chemical weapons from Syria to Lebanon.

»Analysts believe Mofaz's opposition also increases the political risks for Netanyahu in his decision-making for a potential military aggression against Iran. This comes as recent opinion polls have also shown that most Israelis would oppose any unilateral strike against Iran.

»In March, Mofaz accused Netanyahu of using the threat of a nuclear Iran “in order to divert attention from the country’s socioeconomic problems.” “It is more than political spin. He wants to present himself as the defender of Israel,” he said. » […]

Meanwhile, Former US Ambassador to Tel Aviv Thomas R. Pickering said in March that “the heads of the three Israeli intelligence services do not seem to be recommending any military attack.” “It involves many to many risks and complications and it is unlikely to achieve, in any serious and continuing way, the objective of stopping the Iranian (nuclear energy) program,” he added.»

THE TRAGIC PLIGHT OF THE VETERANS OF THE I.D.F.

It is difficult not to observe that Mofaz "is positioning himself," as one says of a political tactic, so as to better return to his initial rhetoric at the end of March, when he took charge of the party, the better to claim that the main threat to Israel's situation is the situation of grave domestic crisis (see March 30, 2012).  True, this is timely, as though fate consists of many tragic things, or rather, more simply, as though this explained that…

The second self-immolation of a veteran of the I.D.F., the Israeli Defense Forces (see Russia Today, July 23, 2012), renders this internal Israeli situation sufficiently dramatic, with the prospect of a possible new wave of "indignation" within Israel.

In addition to the general social and economic situation inside Israel, the fate of the Israeli veterans of the Armed Forces (they are more than 50,000) is thus revealed to be as catastrophic as that of the U.S. veterans, - decidedly, Netanyahu's Israel is in full conformity with its U.S. mentor…

    MEANWHILE ISRAEL "IMPLODES"

An Iranian parliamentary deputy representing the Iraqi Jєωs, Siamak Mareh-Sefq, estimated, on July 23, 2012, that Israel is "on the verge of collapse" due to its internal situation.  He referred to the self-immolations, those tragic events, but also, of course, to the general situation in Israel.
It is true, something less often said, that the Netanyahu government, apart from regularly threatening surprise attacks, is also ultra-liberal.  This graft feeds, as one would imagine, on a regime of the mafia type, that too, faithful copy of the American Dream.

    SYRIAN CHEMICAL ATTACK:  ALERT!

It is true that both countries spoken about as twin brothers, Israel and the U.S.A., are very busy exclaiming their painful and anguished surprise at the thought of chemical weapons in Syria, about which much has been made in the past two weeks.  This became brutally dramatic on July 22, with a rapid series of statements…

Effectively, on July 22, when the Israeli Minister of Defense, the spirited Ehud Barak, solemnly and even more officially declared to the world that he had given the order to the Army to prepare for an attack on Syria: «I’ve ordered the Israeli military to prepare for a situation where we would have to weigh the possibility of carrying out an attack against Syrian weapons arsenals. The state of Israel cannot accept a situation where advanced weapons systems are transferred form Syria to Lebanon.»  Earlier, Netanyahu had, in less dramatic terms, explained the Israeli logic:  «Israel would have to act if the Syrian regime collapsed without changing and if there’s a risk Syria’s chemical weapons and missiles could fall into the hands of military groups [ such as Hizballah or al Qaeda]»

On July 23 the Ministry of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Syrian) stated that chemical weapons would only be used against an "external aggression" (Antiwar.com, July 24, 2012).  It was indeed an affirmation that these weapons would only be used in defensive mode, and would not be used against "the Syrian people."

    *  This did not in any way appease the foreign offices of the countries that have, for months now, protested against the treatment given "to the Syrian people, and that, in this case, very few seemed to care about.  Again, it is political obsession for the security of Israel.  The site DEBKAFiles obligingly tells us the same thing on July 23, 2012, after the declaration of the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and on the occasion of a solemn and personal warning from Barack Hussein Obama to Assad (the number of times in which Assad has been "personally" warned leads us to the conclusion that he would require several lifetimes to be able to clear his accounts).
«Senior Israeli military officers, referring to the Syrian foreign ministry statement Monday, July 23, that Syria would only use chemical weapons against “external aggression,” found in it a direct threat by the Assad regime to turn those weapons against Israel. It was Syria’s rejoinder to Israel’s vow to use force against those chemical weapons to prevent them from reaching Hizballah’s hands in Lebanon. […] Finally, US President Barack Obama said Monday that “Assad will be held accountable if he makes the tragic mistake of using chemical weapons.

»An Israeli officer told DEBKAfile that the Syrian foreign ministry’s statement was tantamount to a declaration that the Assad regime holds all the cards on when and against whom to use its chemical weapons. America, Israel, Jordan and Turkey have no say in the matter. Assad alone will decide if and when to wage chemical warfare against such enemies as Israel and Jordan, although he may be expected to follow Iran in refraining from going after American targets at this time. He has, in other words, given himself carte blanche for resorting to chemical warfare at a time of his choosing by reiterating that his government is subject to external Arab and Western aggression.»

ATTACK SYRIA BECAUSE OF CHEMICAL WEAPONS?  RIDICULOUS!

It was then that a thunder clap, in the form of two official declarations from the Ministry of Defense, - including the Chief of General Staff of the I.D.F., General Benny Gantz, from whom we have already heard on other occasions (see April 28, 2012).  Continuing with DEBKAFiles that is this time on the front seats, and that protects its underlying essential business.  (Text of July 24, 2012, which, since we consulted and put it on-line, has curiously disappeared from the front page of the site.)

«Amos Gilead, head of the Defense Ministry Political and Security Division, went first with a long radio interview on Tuesday, July 24, followed by Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz – both administering their own brands of tranquilizer. Gilead said that the Assad regime was in full control of Syria’s unconventional weapons and so, while Israel’s intelligence bodies must be extra alert and prepare for all eventualities in Syria, there is no need to panic.

»Gen. Gantz offered the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Security Committee this abstruse thought: “If you work from one focus, you may find it hard to find the point, but if you act broadly, you may quickly find yourself in an area that is broader than you planned.” Since the topic he was addressing was Syria’s chemical and biological arsenal, he probably meant to say something like this: If the IDF only targets Syria’s unconventional arsenal, its aim might not hit home. But by missing its aim, the Israeli military may find itself dragged very quickly into a comprehensive war with Syria – and perhaps Hizballah and Iran, to boot.

»The chief of staff, like the defense ministry official, therefore broke ranks with the muscle-flexing President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak, by urging a large measure of restraint against Syria’s admitted possession of chemical weapons. The two Israeli security chiefs answered the Syrian Foreign Ministry’s warning Monday - that Damascus would only use chemical weapons if faced with “external aggression” - by making it clear that Israel is not planning to attack Syria. Therefore, Bashar Assad has no cause to target Israel for any unconventional warfare attacks he may plan…

The commentaries of DEBKAFiles on these interventions are scathing, direct, unambiguous.  They clearly reflect an unprecedented internal battle within the national security apparatus, or, no doubt more precisely, an "internal battle" between the bulk of the Israeli national security apparatus and the political leadership…

«DEBKAfile’s military sources strongly doubt that Gilead and Gantz will achieve their purpose – either in Damascus or at home. They have only generated the troubling impression of an Israeli leadership divided against itself by broadcasting mixed signals on the highly incendiary issue of the largest chemical arsenal in the world in the hands of one of its most ruthless despots.
»Rather than inspiring confidence and calm in the Israeli street, Gilead and Gantz sowed confusion and alarm – most of all by their assurance that Assad is in “full control” of his unconventional weapons arsenal and it has not yet passed into “negative hands.”. If that is so desirable, why did US President Barack Obama issue a grave warning to the Syrian ruler Monday that he would be held accountable by the world and the United States “if he makes the tragic mistake of using chemical weapons?” […]

»And if Israel has turned to a policy of tolerance for the mass murderer in Damascus and his control of chemical weapons, why did Defense Minister Barak order the Israeli military to prepare for a possible attack on that weapons arsenal? By flatly contradicting the statements of Israel’s prime minister and defense minister, the two security chiefs caused extreme damage to Israel’s credibility without serving any beneficial purpose. How will this be taken in Damascus and Tehran?»

GENERAL  GANTZ FLIPS THE BIRD TO BARAK, BIBI AND BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA

We understand well that it is not so much the Syrian chemical weapons that concern us here, as it is the Israeli attitude in the face of the Syrian chemical weapons.  DEBKAFiles loses its head when it stammers in rage before the intervention of Gilead-Gantz, since it speaks of the "largest chemical arsenal in the world in the hands of one of its most ruthless despots," although what Netanyahu-Barak fear has nothing to do with the anti-Assad anathemas, nor with the use that Assad would make of his chemicals, but with "…a risk Syria's chemical weapons and missiles could fall into the hands of military groups [such as Hezbollah or al Qaeda]"…  When one loses one's calm, one can not escape the cesspools so comforting to the narrative of the System (Assad = Hitler Number 6 or Hitler number 7, or  no one knows which…).

Nevertheless there is indeed an interesting case, from the Israeli point of view, and from the domestic Israeli point of view.

    *  On the one hand, the Israeli political leadership proclaims that there is great danger posed by the Syrian chemical weapons.  And, in this case, according to the logic of the obsessive politics of Israeli security, one must admit that this alarm is justified given that this alarm is more justified than the jokes recited for years concerning the Iranian nuclear issue.  Obviously one can, one must put into play this "obsessive politics of the security" of Israel, but then we must go back very far, yet once it is accepted as fact, we must admit that the Syrian chemical weapons that exist are also in the midst of a very agitated situation, quite close to Israel, which is much more concerned about the Iranian nuclear weapons program that does not exist, which may perhaps only have been a fabricated fantasy, and so forth.

    *  Moreover, the Israeli alarm is supported by all the Americanist pomp, by President Barack Hussein Obama himself who oozed out a few minutes during his frantic race for money to gain re-election.

    *  Thereupon, two Israeli personalities, including the Chief of General Staff himself, intervened, almost saying that "the Syrian chemical weapons menace just isn't very serious," that Assad is completely in a position of complete mastery over the situation (all true if we are told that this Assad is not such a bad guy)…  On the other hand, caution is given to all these alarmist sounds, these plans for forays into Syria, because that can unleash a major war wth Syria, drawing in Hezbollah… and Iran!  It is true that this is a completely explosive approach (which we are not sure was not coordinated with U.S. military leaders, themselves with very little enthusiasm for intervention in Syria, in any form whatsoever), and an explosive process that relies on some necessarily well-docuмented knowledge of the situation.

WHO CONTROLS ISRAEL?  AND IS THERE STILL SUCH A THING AS CONTROL?

Rarely does one have the example of so completely contradictory an approach, a true insubordination, in a situation of dramatic tension between personalities not only important but essential (Gantz) with national security leadership, and with everything made public.  We insist on this circuмstance of the actual "dramatic situation," with the Syrian crisis moving from conditions of an anti-guerilla conflict to conditions of actual warfare, with multiple foreign involvements, that exert tremendous pressure on the Israeli borders.  The Syrian crisis, in fact the truth of the situation from the Israeli point of view, is anything but some ghostly Iranian nuclear crisis.
That the leadership of Israeli national security fails to present a united front in such a situation, under such circuмstances (whether to intervene or not in Syria) is a true national tragedy for Israel.  That Gantz, notably, judges it necessary to make such a declaration "in such a situation and for such a circuмstance" shows the contempt and hostility in which he holds Israel's political leadership.  (And his position of strength, also:  Gantz is evidently not alone in his sentiments, since he has with him the preponderance of the national security leadership, - intelligence, police and homeland security, not to mention the Army).

That such a crisis is exposed in such a way, "in such a situation and under such circuмstances," with nothing apparently done against Gantz to restore respect for the hierarchy of power, speaks volumes about the internal situation in Israel.  In this case, we must not make an issue of simple national security but rather an issue of the structural stability of the country.  Therefore, the defiance of Gantz accords in this case with the two self-immolations, with the departure of the politician Mofaz, according to a single logic that affects the entire country.  It is the essence of Israel that is being dissolved!  Implosion or not, what does it matter, and above all the substance of the State itself.

     PROCESS OF ACCELERATED SELF-DESTRUCTION

This is a typical case in which the structures of the System in full process of collapse are confronted with destructuring situations that draw in the System itself, - superpower leading almost directly to self-destruction, not even done by intermediaries.  In effect, the extremist politics undertaken by the System, all the countries in the shapeless and agglomerated block of N.A.T.O., in confrontation with Iran, Syria, Russia, and so forth, are now receiveing terrifying shock waves of destructuring power.  The term blowback, usually employed for the counterproductive consequences of clandestine operations of the C.I.A. type, is today quite incapable of  accounting for the extreme speed of the phenomena we are witnessing.

Of course Israel is the case in point, but it is also one case among others, as noted above.  The same process threatens many other countries of N.A.T.O., entered into narratives leading to insane politics, senseless, nihilistic and totally chaotic, and the reaction that the truth of the situation arouses, with internal disorders that ensnare the leaderships of these countries and the countries themselves.  The link betweem the external politics of predatory superpower and the effects of self-destruction that then make themselves immediately evident is now formidable, direct, impressive in its power.

Such rare historic earthquakes mark the deafening footsteps of Gods returned back among us, not the mere feeble deeds of mortal men.
