Happy Feast Day of the Immaculate Conception of Blessed Mary ever-Virgin!

May the patronage and tutelage of the great Mother of God, Blessed Mary ever-Virgin conceived without sin, avail each of us, together with all our families and loved ones, unto the increase of the theological virtues, the infused moral virtues and the gifts of the Holy Ghost, and may this glorious Victress assist us in our battle against the infernal Leviathan -- so that, having cultivated a life of prayer and good works worthy of supernatural grace, we may be found worthy to enter into the celestial precincts of the heavenly Jerusalem, where this same illustrious Virgin reigns as Queen and supreme Arbitress over all that is subject unto her Divine Son.

From Cardinal Schuster's The Sacramentary (Liber Sacramentorum): Historical and Liturgical Notes on the Roman Missal, (Vol. III; trans. Arthur Levelis-Marke; New York: Benziger Brothers, 1927), here is a commentary upon the Mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Greek Church also commemorates this great beginning of the Mysteries of our salvation on the 9th of December, as will be seen in these pages taken from the Byzantine Missal for Sundays and Feast Days with Rites of Sacraments, and Various Offices and Prayers published at Birmingham, Alabama, by St. George's R. C. Byzantine Church in 1958, (having been printed at Tournai, Belgium, by Société Saint Jean l' Evangéliste, Desclée & Cie).

For more on the excellencies of the Immaculate Mother of God as extolled by the Byzantines, please consult this thread: http://www.cathinfo.com/catholic.php/The-Acathist-Hymn-Office-of-Praise-of-the-Mother-of-God

“IN Conceptione tua, Virgo Maria, immaculata fuisti; ora pro nobis PATREM, cujus FILIUM JESUM de SPIRITU SANCTO conceptum peperisti.”

“IN thy Conception, O Virgin Mary, thou wast immaculate; pray for us to the FATHER, whose SON JESUS CHRIST conceived of the HOLY GHOST thou didst bring forth.”

100 Days, Toties Quoties
Rescripts of the Congregation of Indulgences: Pius VI, November 21, 1793.

“TO thee, O Virgin Mother, who wast never defiled with the slightest stain of original or actual sin, I commend and entrust the purity of my heart.”
100 Days, once a day.
Rescripts of the Congregation of Indulgences: Pius IX, Prop. November 26, 1854.

“O MARY, who didst enter the world free from stain, do thou obtain for me from GOD, that I may pass out of it free from sin.”
100 Days, once a day.
Rescripts of the Congregation of Indulgences: Pius IX, Bfs. March 27, 1863.

“BLESSED be the holy and Immaculate Conception of the most blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of GOD.”

300 Days. Toties Quoties
Rescripts of the Congregation of Indulgences: Leo XIII, Br. September 10, 1878.

“O MARY, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.”

Happy Feast Day, I will be consecrated to Mary tomorrow.  I hope to repeat it each year, each time a little bit better of course.  But this already has been a huge step up spiritually.  Everyone should do the consecration to Mary as designed by St. Louis de Montfort; and if you don't have the inspiration, pray to have it.  You will see what I mean when you do it.  It gives you an incredible sense of perspective, both of your own unworthiness and that of Mary's greatness.

I've seen you mention this before, and its an excellent idea. I admit, part of me feels unworthy to consecrate myself to her. I know (think) this is wrong, but I will pray not for inspiration, because I am already inspired by her, but for the strength to know that in her I can do it and remain worthy of my consecration! Thanks Raoul!

Glory be to God in His most Blessed Mother!

Question:

On the 4th page, there is a quote from the head of the Syriac Church in latin. From what I can make out (thanks to my spanish!), he is saying that the heads of the Oriental Church vote against the declaration of the Immaculate Conception from far away? Is this correct?

Eh, no, he is saying that he confirms the teaching.

Who is she that comes forth as the morning rising,
Fair as the moon, Bright as the sun,
Terrible as an army set in battle array?
