    Hans Küng Considering ѕυιcιdє
by Brian Kelly October 4, 2013

Catholic Culture: The dissident theologian Hans Küng has revealed that he is considering assisted ѕυιcιdє.

Küng, who at the age of 85 is suffering from Parkinson’s disease, writes in a forthcoming memoir that he does not “want to live on as a shadow of myself.” Questioning whether he will be able to continue living with dignity, he writes: “A scholar who can no longer read and write—what’s next?”

Having argued that individuals have a right to choose death in the face of painful illness, he asks readers: “If I have to decide myself, please abide by my wish.”

The dissident theologian Hans Küng has revealed that he is considering assisted ѕυιcιdє.

A Swiss priest who served as a theological expert at Vatican II, Küng taught for years at the University of Tübingen in Germany. Because of his persistent criticism of Church teachings on a wide range of issues, in 1979 the Vatican decreed that Küng could no longer be considered a “Catholic” theologian. He has continued to press for change in the Catholic Church and has been a harsh critic of his former colleague, Pope Benedict XVI.

~ I wonder if he's such a harsh critic of Pope Francis?  Maybe now
that the pope is someone he approves of, he will be willing to hang
around a bit longer to see how things develop now?  I mean, why
not stick it out and have the chance to utter a few choice words
that might make the news or whatever?  Isn't that what life is all
about for this guy, making headlines?  It was for Cardfile Balony,
I mean Roger Ho-hoeny, sorry, Mahony.

    ............And Darryl Gates (LAPD).........

He has been a very harsh crtic of John Paul II and Pope Benedict. Why should he change with Pope Francis? He is also a sedevacantist.

Did you see that “in 1979, the Vatican decreed that Küng could no
longer be considered a 'Catholic' theologian?”

Did you notice that Pope Francis recently was quoted as saying that
he believes in God but not a Catholic God?

Well, if Küng is not a Catholic theologian, maybe he's got something
in common with the new pope, ya think???

Maybe then he's okay with giving his approval of the new pope?!?!

Maybe now that the pope is someone he approves of, he will be
willing to hang around a bit longer to see how things develop now?

I mean, why not stick it out and have the chance to utter a few
choice words that might make the news or whatever?

Isn't that what life is all about for this guy, making headlines?

Isn't that what poche is all about, asking inane questions?

Questions the answers to which are right in front of your face??

Let's take it up a notch:

Küng was kind of the icebreaker in 1979, and now Francis is
following suit.  So what if Küng's idea to go with ѕυιcιdє is an idea
that Francis picks up on later, and he also then approves of it?
Wouldn't that be tit for tat?  Isn't that right where we're headed?

IOW there is a new order of things, you haven't noticed:

Küng is the one who sets the pace, and the pope keeps up with it.

    Get it?

    .

His designation as "Catholic" theologian ahs not been returned to him.
It would be nice if Hans Kung would approve of Pope Francis. However that would only last until the Pope has to reafirm one of the Catholic truths that Hans Kung disagrees with.

Poche, try reading first, and THEN posting.

    Okay?

    Step 1.   Read.

    Step 2.   Post.

    You're doing step 2 and you're skipping step 1.

  • I still say wait until he has to reafirm some Catholic dioctrine that Kung disagrees with. Artificial Contraception, communion for people who have divorced and remmaried without bothering to get an annullment, or communion for people in illicit relationships who haven't bothered to get married. "gαy" marriage, assisted ѕυιcιdє (i.e. murder) The list goes on. by the way Hans Kung is a sedevacantist.

    .

I've read this again and I think you have it backwards. Pope Francis will set the pace and if hans Kung is still alive he will get with the program or he will stay on the sidelines complaining.

One thing's for sure, if Hans does the deed to die, we won't have
to wonder anymore where he went next.  Maybe that will help
our perspective on the Four Last Things.
