Catholic Martyr saidRC1953, have you read Scripture? The sins of the ancestors are very often visited on the descendants.
The sins of the forefathers are visited on the grandchildren and great-grandchildren three or four generations down the line -- I have a feeling we're in for some of that punishment.
I've always taken that to mean that there is a physical punishment, like a Flood, for the descendents of depraved generations, but I don't think that means all the descendants are necessarily cursed. They just have to pay, maybe with their lives or with lots of suffering.
Are you saying there is a spiritual
curse, that those who come from bad blood are doomed to hell? In the Old Testament bloodlines occasionally passed on a curse, like the curse of Ham. But it seems that was abrogated with the coming of Christ. That is why Jesus says that He came to divide with a sword, to turn father against son, mother against daughter. Within families, there will be good and bad; therefore, no more familial curse.
I was just researching the curse of Ham and read a bizarre quote by Anne Catherine Emmerich. I think this one deserves its own thread!
