Guess what happened to me. . .

  • My husband and I bought a new car last month and yesterday the license plates came, the number ended with 666, and I almost had a fit.  Told my husband that I don't want those evil numbers, so today we went down to the license office for a chat.

I calmly told the lady, I wanted a different number, and she said I had to pay an additional $32.75 to get a new plate.  My husband told her those numbers were obscene and wanted to know why they issued them in the first place.  He further asked her if he requested a plate with the "F" word on it would they issue that and she said NO!

At this time I felt sorry for the young girl, since she was only doing her job, and  I calmed my husband down, we paid the extra money, took our new plates and left.

What do you all think?  Would you just accept the plate as it was, am I being superstitious?  My husband thought I was being silly yet he was the one who had the hissy fit at the girl.   :really-mad2:
    Please pray for my soul.

Firstly he had the 'hissy fit' at the girl as you say because they had offended you, not neccessarily because it offended him. Many things can happen to a man that he can take in stride, but do the same thing to his family and watch him let loose :)

And I also get a little superstitious about those numbers, usually during a card game when I get 3 sixes lol.

  • I wouldn't worry about my grocery total coming to $6.66 -- it's a one time thing, no big deal. And a man (or woman) in the state of grace has nothing to fear from anyone or anything, including the number 6.

    HOWEVER...

A license plate -- something you have for 6 or 7 years?  I think I'd pay the $32 and get a new one. I wouldn't want to identify with 666. And yes, a license plate is a kind of identity -- why do you think so many people get vanity plates?

  • Nothing will happen to you if you have the number 666 on your licence. It's just a number. My brother's cell phone number begins with the number 666.

  • By the way, a few years back after my conversion back to God, I had realized how bad TV was and had wanted to not watch it anymore. Well, when the licence plate for my new car came, I found it ironic (and a bit upsetting) that the first 4 letters/numbers were 4ZTV (which sounds like "for the TV"). Coincidentally, the last 3 numbers were the year last 3 numbers of the year I graduated high school.

  • I wasn't worried or concerned about something happening to me, just did not want that number associated with me.  If it doesn't bother you Alex that is fine, you are a better person than I, but it bothered me, so I took care of the problem.

Just curious about what others here thought.
    Please pray for my soul.

It would bother me too but not because I thought something bad would happen but because, like you said, I wouldn't want to be associated with that number either. I didn't like the fact that my brother's cell started with those numbers and commented to him about it. But he didn't seem to mind.
