  • Thinking of the cartoonish image of guardian angel at one side, devil at the other,

Do you believe there may be demons particularly attached to one person, (think of a personal demon tester for a soul)?

Is there any Catholic teaching on this matter?

If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • I'm not sure about the Catholic teaching part, but Satan likes to ape God. Think of the legions of devils that must exist if he made a guardian angel for each soul before they were even created. Then think about the number of other choirs of angels that exist, and that a third of the entire number were cast into Hell.

It would make sense that each of us has a "guardian devil" that the devil has sent along with each one of us. There would be enough of them, to be sure.

One of my friends suggested that this is the case several years ago, and that the reason children fight, is because of those "guardian devils" following them around are helping provoke such tiffs. When the children go home after a visit, the devils are still harassing them.

I don't think there's any solid Catholic teaching on such things, but something like this would make total sense.

    Matthew 5:37

But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

My Avatar is Fr. Hector Bolduc. He was a faithful parish priest in De Pere, WI,

  • Excerpt from TIA book review:

    John Lennon's pact with satan

Twenty years later on December 9, 1980, Mark David Chapman fired five shots from a revolver at Lennon in front of the Dakota building in New York, where Yoko and John had an apartment – on the same floor, by the way, where Rosemary’s Baby was filmed. Lennon died shortly afterward.

Chapman: he was a tool of the Devil

If John had entered into a 20-year pact with the Devil for wealth and world fame, that contract ended that day with his violent death. Mark Chapman would later claim he was instructed to kill Lennon by a voice in his head that kept insisting “Do it, do it, do it.”

Five years later at Attica State Prison, Chapman asked for an exorcism to be made by a priest.
He said he was delivered from five or six demons.
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

    My first thought as well.
Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.

Yes. I believe that there are demons who follow us around, and put thoughts into our heads. This is where many of our negative thoughts come from. If we are in a state of Grace, the Holy Spirit along with our guardian Angel, guides our conscience by putting positive thoughts into our heads. When we fall out of grace, we begin to hear the demons talking to us more.

I personally think that when we are in mortal sin (the Mark of the Beast), we begin to serve Satan. But when we are in grace, we tend to serve God.

Its almost like our souls are like a radio. Mortal sin= our souls are tuned into the Satan channel where we hear all kinds of negative misleading thoughts. Grace= We are tuned into the God channel, and we are guided by the thoughts of the Holy Spirit.
