  • The reason people make such a big deal about it is because the greater portion of the population are wasteful consumers who don't know how to calculate or manage their resources.

  • Some blundering idiots of course are going to appear on tv and say #### like, "we need to limit our lower our birthrate/reduce our population" or other stuff for which I don't have patience to attempt to remember let alone listen too.

There are really only a handfull of people who are actually coming up with solutions to drastically improve food production, utilize limited land space, repair the environment, produce non-pollutant energy, and basically use the earth's natural resources to their fullest potential in a system which accommodates an ever growing population.

And let's not forget that THE EARTH GROWS TOO.

  • Over population is a myth: http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/04/new-video-7-billion-people-on-earth-is-not-overpopulation/

The Population Research Institute (PRI) just released the fifth episode of their highly popular YouTube cartoon video series just in time for the world’s population to reach 7 billion people. The series notes how the Earth is not overpopulated — since many countries are seeing aging populations and worker shortages.

The latest video, available at www.overpopulationisamyth.com  is about two minutes long, and it deals with the issues surrounding the latest milestone of 7 billion people on the planet. The video aims to show that, according to the UN’s latest data, the world’s population is not skyrocketing out of control, but rather slowing to a standstill before plummeting downward again.

  • It's not that the world is overpopulated; rather, the population that exists in the world is packed and congested into a few relatively small areas, and the wealthiest percentage of the population of earth consumes the vast majority of the earth's resources, or at least has ready access to them. It's always bothered me that modern Western society seems to be so obsessed with the newest Hollywood movie, the newest up-and-coming sports star, the newest technology trends, while millions around the world can't feed their families and are dying of disease or living in the most abject conditions imaginable. We need to do a lot more to help, and while there are some making GREAT efforts to help out, we can always find ways to help out more.

  • The same people (or type of people) who are today crying dire warnings about over-population today were sounding the alarm bells in the 1970s.  I remember the news reports warning that by the year 2000 there would be mass starvation all around the world--including in the United States and Europe.  We were told that there was simply no way the earth could grow enough food for the growth of the population.

These are also the same people (or type of people) who were warning that another ice age was imminent.  Every few weeks another "Scientific" docuмentary (this was when there were only 3 networks and PBS) came out showing how too much carbon in the atmosphere would reflect the heat energy of the sun back out into space and earth would become ice covered from the poles to the tropics.

And guess what the only solution for these terrible problems were!  If you said that central government planning of every aspect of human life, you get a gold star!  Notice that communism is always the solution to these "problems" in every age.  I understand that young people today have never been taught any history and don't care about anything that happened before they were born or isn't on facebook, but what is most irritating is listening to people my age who should know better being fooled once again.

Too many people are willfully ignorant, and this isn't just about "over-population" and "global cooling/warming".  The reason the vast majority of men will be condemned to an everlasting hellfire is because the choose to be willfully ignorant of the True God.  These other issues are merely the symptom of the real problem.

  • Malthusianism has been around for over 200 years.  This is nothing new.  And it always comes from the wealthy thinking that the poor are a scourge on society.  Instead of those who have been given much by Our Lord actually helping the poor, they insist that the "government" should intervene to limit the population.  According to them, resources are limited.  The less population means more resources.  More population means less resources.  Therefore they see preventive measures to population growth as necessary---birth control, postponing marriage until much later, abortion, ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖity, etc.

These ideas have been encouraged in one form or another for a very long time.

Sadly many of them are ingrained in our culture and are hard to let go of.  Here's a popular one:  People shouldn't get married until they are economically able to sustain themselves.  Another mantra is this:  All the welfare programs we have are actually keeping people living in poverty.  If we reduce the number of programs available to them to help them, then they will naturally reduce themselves and get out of poverty.

There are a lot more examples if you think about it.

These are just talking points of the devil.  It irks me.

Our society is full of Malthusians.  Some just speak louder than others.
