That happened before in the SSPX with the nine.  What's the difference between then and now?

Why were "the nine" wrong and the resistance right ?

I am sure Church history is full of examples of people, Bishops and Cardinals writing to the Pope and pleading with him not to do something, or do something he is was doing, with a veiled threat of leaving if he does.  The east/west schism is one such example.  Old Catholics another.

All that remains is to let a 100 or 500 or 1000 years pass to see if you are on the right of wrong side of history.

  • The SSPX-Resistance has the weight of Pope's, Tradition and ABL on its side. There is nothing new which it invents, and its point of contention with The SSPX leadership is that it (+Fellay, et al) have left the road ABL left for us, not the other way around.

  • a very specious point.  the neo-SSPX doesn't talk like the SSPX.

Only someone who no longer cares about doctrine or who is ignorant and confused couldn't tell the difference.

But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

  • I did read the letter and there are many similarities.

In addition you now have cracks and public spats (Bishop Williamson and Fr. Meramo) appearing in the resistance which is only a year or so old.  It's paralleling what happened to the 9 very closely.
